"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Thought I’d start here since I’m familiar with the O Scale forums!

I have a bunch of G scale trains and track that I’m looking to sell - but since I’m mainly an O scale guy and not as familiar with G scale, I am not sure a) where to list them, and b) how to price them.

Any advice as to where I should start?

Depending on where you live, there may be a reputable auction house nearby that specializes in trains (Stouts and Cabin Fever are two that get positive reviews here).  Unless you have a very large collection, you'll probably have to drop them off.

About a year ago, I put a modest lot of LGB on auction via Stouts.  Spent a morning to load up, drive there, drop them off, and drive home.  I ended up netting about what I would have gotten by selling the items individually on ebay, with no hassle - no shipping, no non-payers, no worry about returns or complaints.

I have successfully sold G scale items here on OGR.

You do need some large boxes, packing materials, and packing tape.  The best place I have found to buy boxes is U-Haul.  They have a huge facility about 5 miles from me; they always have all box sizes in stock.  Shipping is expensive, but buyers understand that.

I have always listed my items with an asking price and specified that shipping was not included.  Once a buyer gave me a zip code, I was able to provide a shipping cost.
