IDK, Mine is 21 years old now and one line has had the same Santa Fe passenger set on it from day one. How many people could say that ?
No necessarily 3 rail O gauge, but this layout has existed, more or less intact, since about 1905 (yes, 1905).....Carlisle & Finch........the TM video is great!

I started mine in '91 with Dad's track from the '40s.
My O Gauge layout with good old original Lionel tubular track in its current configuration is 26 years old. So far so good.
My layout dates to 1998, but much of the track dates to 1955.
My current O-27 layout was built in 1971 with no track or accessories built after 1966, including the GarGraves portion.
1980 with GG track.
My layout was 34 years old last July 2. It runs every day when I am not away. Original tubular track. My goal from the start was to build perfect benchwork (I did) and do everything one time. My layout is 26X46. I used the best wire and power available. I followed something my Uncle from Pennsylvania preached to me. He stated to test everything and do not play trains when trying to go forward with the layout. I did that with one test engine.
My layout runs perfect to this day with no track issues. I know older layouts may exist but I do not know haw many are in top running condition. I have seen older layouts badly covered with dust that may never run again.
2 months! Still working great!
The central section of my layout dates to January 1990. The switches and about 2/3 of the tubular track are original. I have had to replace some curved sections over the years due to wear.

A wonderful friend of mine who taught me a lot about trains passed away last year. He built his layout in the very early 50's and it's exactly the same as the day he built it. Even down to the Gargraves wood tie switches. There are even a couple of working electronic sets. The daughter is keeping it as is. Don
At the Carnegie Science Center's, Miniature RR & Village (MRRV), trains run 8 to 10 hours a day, we
close down about 6 weeks every year for maintenance and clean up, and replace sections of track
almost every year.
