Will parts from new MTH 223 standard gauge switches interchange with original Lionel 223 switches

I have new MTH 223 switches and really like the look of original older looking switches, can the mechanical parts be swapped to have dependable old Lionel switches?

I guess I could just buy an old switch and see but thought maybe someone else looked into it.

OR are the old switches good if cleaned up and rebuilt ?
