Williams scale Mikado - Trainworld

That engine was indeed "canceled", and I got the answer DIRECTLY from Bachmann.
I would suspect.....if the persons ad is HUGE....it was probably an over sight. I too, have made errors, we are only human.

I don't think Bachmann gave any reason. It was a K-Line re-release, I think, well detailed, but conventional operation, maybe they didn't see a future for it. Personally, I would have bought it, they have done a fine job on the Baldwin ten wheeler, I hope they do start offering more new locos.

The price point for the Mikado was considered high for a scale steamer that was conventionally controlled.

On the other hand, the new 10 wheeler is dynamite for the price. It gets an excellent review, well worth reading I might add, from George Brown in the next issue of OGR.

Sounds like a definitive answer to me.

I wasn't in the market for it, but a friend was pretty hot to get it. Maybe it'll see the light of day one
day - and I'm sure that it would have been very nice - but I'd rather see some new steam tooling.

A light Mikado, USRA, scale and well detailed would be very welcome, by me anyway.
I can't find any, a friend asked me to find him a scale 2 rail, rare as hen's teeth.

There's a Sunset version on ebay right now.
Otherwise, grab a K-Line or an MTH version and have Joe Foehrkolb 2-rail it for your fiend. If you don't like the level of detail, well, change it to your satisfaction. That's what O-scale, 2-rail is all about....

Me too, I have to have something I can put my Vanderbilt tender behind! Of course I'd still have to move the air pumps to the front for a "proper" Seaboard Q-3.

I would have bought a Williams 10 wheel but the side rods did it for me.

Nothing screams cheap like bent metal to connect the side rods to the piston rods
I know I could fix it but I don't want to.
They didn't do that on their J's,Hudsons or berks.

Hope they make the mikado. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I can't compare the aborted Mike to the 10-wheeler. One was to be a scale model, and the other is more of an entry-level toy train.

That's not a slam, just a note that they were clearly targeted at different market segments.

If the Mike was announced with DCC and sound, I would have signed up for 2.

Hi Ed, from what I can see those new Williams by Bachmann steam engines are really nice. I can't wait to see the review when it comes out.
By the way, how hard are they to up-grade to DCS?

I'm so impressed with the new ten wheeler ( I have two now and am thinking of getting a third)that I'd order any new loco from Williams just on the HOPE it would run as well.

4-6-0 - runs beautifully; the bent main rod is just a shame.
How about a $10.00 retro-fit upgrade mainrod/crosshead/piston rod
kit, Williams? New pieces, longer shoulder screw, and we're done.

When the 10 wheeler is running smoothly around the track.....I don't see an issue. And at the price I'll get another one.

I too would have liked one,does the 10 wheeler come in CN?
