i watched the Lionel video on how to wire fastrack but I’m confused. I assume I wire from center track to center track then outside track to outside track? What is considered outside, the rail that is furthest away from the center of the layout closest to the edge of the table?

The outside track can be either of the two, as they are electrically connected together. Your hot wire goes to the center, common to an outside track.
Ok thank you all for your help. What do you guys recommend. This is for my Christmas layout which is relatively big in my mind, 11’x9’ will I need to wire the layout? I’m afraid of losing connectivity the further I go out away from the power supply. The only issue I see is how will I take it apart after the season
If you are just running conventional trains, two connections from the power supply equidistant apart should be fine.
I would like to chime in and ask a question. Are additional drops necessary only for the inside/hot rail with a single wire to the outside rail sufficient... or should a hot and ground wire both be attached in the same area?

Garret76: I figure if I am going to run a wire for a power drop, I might just as well run a two-wire and connect both.
