I'm a bit confused on the wiring setup for the TIU as I'm brand new to DCS. I do have the O Gauge Companion which has answered some other questions I had, but I really want to be sure I'm hooking this up right.

When using a Z1000 with the TIU - I only need to use the brick at this point and I don't need the controller for anything?

In short Brick >> TIU >> Track - do I need to power anything else?

Thank you!

Your challenge will be to get the brick to power the TIU terminals. The ends do not mate up exactly.

You can buy an adapter they make with a barrel jack that takes the brick plug, and two banana plugs for the tiu.

Or you can use Rad Shk parts and make your own.

If you will not need to use the brick w/ the controller much, you can cut off the barrel plug and put the bare wires to the TIU...making sure to not the red wire. This  is probably the least desirable method.

I would bet others will chime in with more tips. Good luck, you will like using DCS, and getting ( I can't believe I am saying this!) Barry's book was a good, smart move. It helps with just about everything, I understand. One day, I am going to get one.

Welcome to the world of DCS. Probably as close and you will get to running a real train.
