A scale wheel, fixed pilot SD40-2 retooled where the trucks are pushed closer to the pilots allowing room for a scale-size fuel tank. MTH has been using the same Weaver tooling for about 25 years so it's about time to offer a model that is worthy of being a Premier. The current tooling can be offered as Rail King Scale much like they did around 2006 when they retooled the SD45.

Flat cars with modern military equipment. I remember back in the late 90's and early 2000's when they offered 6 car mixed freight sets in Premier and Railking, I'd like to see them come back. Modern unit trains.

I would be onboard if they retooled their existing SD40-2 for scale wheels and Southern High Hood.  They may be able to reuse the SD45 HH tool for such a purpose. Perhaps even the SD45 scale-wheels pilot tooling..  Not sure what shell mods would be needed to bring it to SD45 standards, but that would be welcome too.

In case MTH does read this post, Here is a list of items I'd be up to purchase from them including the SD40-2:

1. Premier FM Trainmasters

• Already available in scale wheels.
• Paint them in Southern Railway Black Tuxedo.
• I would take one or two in Scale Wheels Format.

1. Premier SD24’s

• Tool them in scale wheels.
• Paint Them Southern black tuxedo (again).
• I would easily buy 2 or more scale-wheeled versions.

1. Premier GP38-2

• Already available in scale wheels.
• Tool them for the high hood.
  • (Investigate reuse of SD45 high hood)
  • You should be able to paint them in at least Southern, NS, and N de M
• Paint Them Southern black tuxedo.
• I would be in for 2 or 3 high-hood Southern scale-wheels models.

1. Premier GP38’s and GP38AC’s

• Tool them in scale wheels. (Can they do that from their existing GP38-2 tooling?)
• Paint Them Southern black tuxedo.
• I’d buy 2 or more of each of those too in high-hood, scale-wheeled Southern Railway.

• Tool them in scale wheels.
• Tool them for the high hood.

Maybe they can start making brass steam locomotives, so they can make newer steamers without the expense of making a new tooling.

MTH could make the current SD40-2's with cast-in details instead of separately-applied to justify a Rail King designation. This could lower the price by at least $100 off the current Premier pricing. The early SD40-2's had cast-in details.

They do this with the SD45's. The Rail King SD45's which were originally Premier are still scale in dimensions but have less detail than the current Premier models.

I would be in for Wheeling & Lake Erie, Chessie System (B&O), CSX and Norfolk Southern SD40-2's if these were available with the aforementioned changes. 3rd Rail's SD40-2's are dead in the water and I can think of better ways to spend $3K than reserve a model from Midwestern Model Works.

Railking R12 subways in silver & blue, and/ or R21 subways in original green, silver & blue & anti-graffiti white. 

Premier slant 40 subway's re-issued for the L Canarsie line, or the B train to Coney Island via west end. 

Pennsy P5a's boxcab & modified

Railking NY&NJ SW1200, 

some kind of diesel painted for the New Orleans Public belt. There's a few to choose from.

I would like to see a DGLE LIRR RS1. I'm a sucker for those Alco's.

Seems to me that the AMTRAK ACS-64 would sell much better than the reruns MTH has been offering. AEM-7s have been on the market for fifteen years. It's time for something new. The ACS-64s run through the most densely-populated region in the US. Lots of AMTRAK/ACS-64 fans would purchase the model.

Honestly the marketing killed that engine. The catalog picture was very poor. I believe that it could have sold better with an N&W road name. Making it #1218 would have insured success.

RS1 Rutland.   NH I5 Hudson. The only Premier steam engine I remember that was catalogued and then cancelled for lack of orders.  Weaver had enough interest to do 2 runs. Nice model but I would love to see a Proto 3 Diecast version that will pull a good consist of cars. The plans must be somewhere if they catalogued  it.

An I5 would definitely catch my attention. But 1 question about Mth steamers. Why don't they add the whistle steam effect!? They did in the big boy and they did a fantastic job with it. So why not put it in more steamers. An Mth NH I5 with prototypical passenger announcements and whistle steam!!! My pre-order would be in.

I second the recommendation for a New Haven I-5 Hudson. I had one on preorder years ago when it was offered and then cancelled by MTH. I don't think it will be offered now however. It would be expensive and probably have a limited customer base. As far as whistle steam, it adds to the cost and need for repairs. I think that's why MTH has been wise to avoid it.
