Honestly the marketing killed that engine. The catalog picture was very poor. I believe that it could have sold better with an N&W road name. Making it #1218 would have insured success.

Take this concept, shrink it to O gauge for a wider market. Make it available with MTH markings. And also catalog and actually produce transitional rolling stock with tinplate latches on one end and knuckle coupler on the other.

I would so want this as well. I currently have a caltrain cab car with my NJT bombardier set that I'm planning to get repainted to NJT colors. But if they come out with the cab car, I'll sell my caltrain cab car.
I didn't know any of the sets came with a cab car. Could you post a picture of the caltrain cab car?
Sure can. Here is my Caltrain Cab Car that came with the 4 car set. I sold the other 3 cars.

Is that an MTH set? Or is that the K-Line set?

It is an MTH set.
That's odd I don't recall ever seeing an MTH set with the cab car. Do you have the item number so I can start tracking one down.
Wish the Southern Railway Trainmaster diesel had been black instead of another re-run in green.
Any U.P turbines, need all of them except the veranda.

Original Auto-train car carriers again so I can buy 2 more numbers and hope they make the rest of the passenger cars before the next century.
MTH... how about making only baggage cars for passenger trains and never make any of the passenger cars? Makes about as much sense as not using existing passenger car tooling to offer matching cars for the lonesome car carriers. What is MTH thinking here? Or not.

Thankfully, I already have the C&O M-1 (bought used a few years ago, needs upgrade to PS3 & prob. a new speaker) but will order the complete set of Chessie passenger cars to go with it. Also not sure I can pass up an A-B-A set of the Century Green NYC E8s.

I was going to order this Standard Gauge 2-6-6-2, then it got cancelled. I would still buy it.
The O Tinplate suggestion by jhz563 is also a good one, including the transitional "coupler car" - or, another idea would be to engineer the rear truck/rear of tender to accept either a latch coupler or a Hi-rail O Protocoupler, both included and both easily removed/installed/plugged in (Protocoupler). Just screws and a plug.
I would buy this loco, in O or Standard (there needs to be a flashy version, as above, and one more subdued and massive-looking). Totally cool in O, but just think of it in Standard...
(There is an unfortunate resistance by many - not all - in the O and Std Tinplate community to any new products that are not based on old products. This is a bit sad, as, while preservation and re-creation are nice, the continuation of something is even better. That way it isn't all nostalgia - it has a life and a future, not just embalming.)

New Sells
Performance sells. How nice would it be to have tinpate aesthetic with actual power of other modern offerings.
Here's a respectable size tinplate consist with larger power.
I would love std gauge versions of modern diesels who's with me?
Anything in Missouri Pacific or Texas & Pacific. Mike, are you listening?
An SW1200 with Flexicoil trucks(like the 0nes on the SW1500). The New Haven, Penn Central, and Conrail had them. So did the RF&P, Rock Island, Illinois Terminal and the Patapsco & Back River.

I also have 2 cab cars and want them painted into NJT. I have had no luck finding someone to paint them. Let me know how your project goes.

I sure will. There's a guy name Harry Hieke he sent me an estimate to have the car repainted. He is a member of this forum, or you can google his name which is how I found out about him. Google would give you a link to his website. I plan on having it repainted in two months when my car will be paid off and I'll have the extra funds to do so.
This with charging lights MTH Imperial. Otherwise might have to get a GE EVO with charging lights. Or a lionchief plus with charge lights, in PRR, that way don't have to get a new control system, of course not MTH.
