@superwarp1 posted:B&A tank engines, B&A berkshires released twice, yet no B&A caboose or passenger cars. What gives Lionel?????
Lionel did, at least, make a B&A caboose back in the 1980's for its B&A Hudson. So, if I do save up enough money, I'll get that and a B&A Berkshire as a matching pair for myself (in the future).

Sounds good to me.
I'd like to see a re-release of the hot metal and slag cars from a while back. I hope I don't see an Allegheny because that is not in the budget for this year and it's among my favorite steamers.
I think the summer catalog will have a lot of Union Pacific stuff for the 160th anniversary. Possibly a Vision 844. Just a guess

Man, I'd love an 844, but I'm sure the price will be way out of my league.

I would love an 844 vision to go with my vision big boy and double head. Will definitely look good with my mth passenger set,4141 sd70ace, and bush funeral baggage car. Couple more months away😀
A few more UP sets I would love to see are:
City Of San Francisco E6 AB superbass B set with matching 21” cars with appropriate silver trim & flat end obs.
die cast legacy M10,000
yes I’m gonna say it. Vision big boy re-release with WWII era & post-war detailing and some VL feature revisions. Force coupler, And safety or dynamo steam effects for starts. And let’s just ditch the depleting coal load feature. My highlight big boy would be a #4000 released as a WWII era set, in a freshly outshopped appearance with “big boy” chalked on it.
But in this catalog if I’m right about it being UP heavy the FEF would be a better choice. Too soon to re-release the big boy. But I would love to see it in a few years. Helloooooo 49ers big boy!! Lol
PS: the Allegheny needs the Vision treatment!
If we are getting UP locos in the next catalog, I want Legacy SD70ACe-T4s and ET44ACs (I would probably get the BNSF versions first, but the UP versions and the prototypes would be on my list, too). The 49er Big Boy is a cool idea. They also need to make a Greyhound version and the 4014 Excursion Big Boy. A UP 3-Unit "Big Blow" Gas Turbine would be an awesome Vision Line model, as would the Propane Turbine and the original 1st Generation Turbines (Lionel would need to get the tooling from MTH). I'm still hoping for a Vision Siemens Charger with multiple versions and matching passenger cars.
For rolling stock I want Vision Ethanol Tank Cars, the return of the Legacy Crane Car/Boom Car sets, and some new modern stuff (Roadrailers, Boeing fuselage trains, intermodal cars, etc.).
For accessories, I really want Lionel to add Command-Control to their Intermodal Crane (or perhaps they could make a Vision Line Scale Intermodal Crane with sounds), re-release the TMCC Gantry Crane/Crane Sounds Work House, make a Fastrack Turntable, and re-release the Rotary Coal Tipple with TMCC.
I would like Lionel to do the FEF-1 through 3 like they did the latest GS series.
Brass hybrid FEF-1 followed by the FEF-2 and FEF-3 with various tenders and paint.

The D&H 4-8-4 or the D&H Pacific would be nice too.
@Valpac posted:I have the 3rd rail version, it maybe my favorite 4-6-6-4.

You lucky dog! This is one of my holy grail items. 3rd rail isn’t interested in rerunning it due to low sales the first time. I’d be shocked to ever see one done again correctly. Maybe a Lionel custom run but wold likely be a UP challenger with D&H lettering
Maybe if not Lionel, some company could produce this smartphone dock and make everyone happy...
It's just some conceptual thinking. I'm sure it will need to be a smaller overall handheld but the basic idea is here. Phone mechanically docks into the controller and is used as the numeric keypad and screen. All the "major" controls are then done by the dock via BT. All the control much like video game controllers could be hard coded or assigned a function to which it would control. The 2 side "wings" where the horn / bell and train brake could possibly be swapped for left and right handed folks.

@MartyE I wanted to 3D print this type of adapter/dock but I was going to put the phone inside under physical buttons. The topic didn't get any traction when I posted haha I was looking for ideas like what you just posted so help get the brain storming started. I think this will be the best way forward for those of us that like a physical button.
I know my idea lacks the connection and firmware (software?) but it's just an idea.
How about a nice NYC F-3 ABA Lightening stripe, gray not black, ala Postwar #2344 in Legacy (not LionChief).
Last Lionel done was in 2010 catalog as far as I know. 12 years Lionel, let's go!!
Oh, and maybe some nice scale 18' passenger cars for it.
They have yet to make the SOUTHERN Railway Pullman-Standard 60' boxcars with the slogans "SOUTHERN SERVES THE SOUTH" and "GIVES A GREEN LIGHT TO INNOVATION".
Those were common in freight trains between 1970 and 1995.

I'd like to see some CP ES44ACs in CP red w/ the Beaver logo. This would be immensely popular and sell well.
Another run of scale autoracks would be nice, so the older runs would not get marked up too much. And fix that lousy TTX yellow Vietnamese production botched on the last run.

Yes to that! As well as ES44s in Central Maine and Quebec paint. The CM and Q is a subsidiary of the CP.
If we're going with GEVOs, Lionel could make the Florida East Coast ES44C4 with LNG fuel car and correct truck details. I'd also love a BNSF ES44C4.
Here's my wish for the future of Lionel, not just what's in the upcoming catalog: improved quality control.
After reading all the posts about the problems with the Acela, I decided to write to Lionel and express my concerns about the upcoming release of the Strasburg #90 Decapod, which, according to the response I just received, now has an estimated ship date of 8-29-22. The rest of the reply said, "We do not test as the products are shipped to us but we do provide a 30-day return policy on products and a 1 year warranty repair."
I would wish for the new Western Maryland Railway Mallet, C&O, being used between Cumberland and Frostburg.
A Lionel Lines PS-1 boxcar.
A Lionel Lines Legacy diesel.
The new catalog will probably drop mid July like last year
Scale and Legacy equipped RS-3's..Lehigh and Hudson River and Susquehanna would be great roadnames!
I wish for a new box car model, something no one has in O yet l!
@SIRT posted:I wish for a new box car model, something no one has in O yet l!
A new kind of boxcar and not necessarily a new road name?
Also would like to see a continued focus on obscure and regional road names in locomotives and rolling stock. I don’t need anymore NYC or Pennsy.

I do agree that the Pennsy, NYC, UP, etc are well known railroads and rostered a large numbers of unique locomotives. At the same time, the short lines and regionals can offer a wide array of engine types and variety that our layouts often need and would benefit from.
Growing up in the Pittsburgh area, the P&LE was one of those railroads for me. I was excited to see the Aliquippa Turn set put out by Lionel a few catalogs back and I had to have it. I have now added a set of P&LE cars released by Lionel around 2016, and I have MTH cars on preorder. I think we need to see more of these unique locos and sets that will add to our layouts rather then the same old, overly known roads.
another Mid National graffiti engine but in lionchief 2.0 or legacy
more graffiti cars - keep em coming
graffiti buildings maybe giant mall place or hangout for young people that would be appropriate for the 90s / early 2000s
@Madockawando posted:A new kind of boxcar and not necessarily a new road name?
(3 new model types) Names are based on the type of these three classes of cars.

“Traditional sized” or “semi-scale” 2-8-O. Almost all railroads had 2-8-0 engines. Roadname choices limitless. Will attract many buyers! JohnA

Tinplate?
@th55 posted:Tinplate?
I wouldn't mind picking up a tinplate set for the Christmas tree. Especially if it has some kind of command control. That's especially appealing for me as I can sit on the couch and use it. I've been wanting a set for under the tree but struggle to pick one.
i had a dream about the catalog again . Here is what i saw
LC2.0 army GP38
daylight painted big blow turbine
LC2.0 fantasy sd90mac
