"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Came across this You tube video. Am I envious or what? Without a doubt, to me, this engine ranks among the most realistically smoking steam model locomotives I've ever seen. Take a look at this clip and see whether you agree. Judge it yourself.

Yeah and I can't believe he runs that indoors! He modified the smoke units.

I thought he was blending diesel fuel or kerosene? It has to be something else so that it dissipates like our smoke oil does.

I've read much ado about smoke leaving film on stuff. I run with smoke on every day and my track stays clean inside with no residue. I wonder if I notched it up like his, if it would stay clean?

Fred, that is where toy trains should be over here and now! There is no reason that our trains should still have regular bulbs inside. Seems like state of the art doesn't apply anymore? It feels like, they put in just what is needed to, to get it sold. The bottom line price theory rules. Why in the world do our steam engines still have the speakers in the tender only?

I know there are different levels and different price groups for these toys. I just feel that the edge is gone over here to even try something new. At least there are US import companies trying to capture exact details, just not full effects. I did not wish to model European engines and equipment. They always seem to keep striving for more overall realism though.

I think O gauge needs another young Mike Wolf to enter into manufacturing and kick start innovation.

It's easier with a larger smoke unit to get great smoke.  I get pretty good smoke using the stock MTH smoke units with some "tuning".  For a G-scale smoke unit, his results seem to be achievable without too much effort.

Yes, John, the more room you have to work with likely the easier it is to achieve better smoke but from what I've observed you've achieved phenomenally impressive results for O Gauge steam engines with your super chuffer. I only wish it would work with LionChief Plus engines and not only TMCC and Legacy. Hopefully in the not too distant future I'll have the funds to have you install TMCC, a fan driven smoke unit, and your Super Chuffer in a few of my favorite conventional steamers. Till then I'll have to satisfy my craving for seeing great smoking O gauge steamers by watching videos of engines with your Super Chuffer.
