What happens on a layout with multiple WTIUs and TIUs with Wifi or plain TIUs ? Specifically how do the remotes work with WTIU remotes tethered and the rest wireless. What happens in Super TIU mode ? Thanks in advance.

I have a mixed layout with one WTIU and one with the TIU with the WIFI module. I am running in Super TIU mode and it is working well using the APP. In the past I had 1 WIU as the router and the other joined it, but now I have both on my home network and it is running well.
I have not tried the remove to see if it can run on the WTIU. I suspect it will work with the original TIU, but not the WTIU. I will test this the next time I run trains.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect you are correct about Remote functionality. The WTIU advertisements are devoid of this functionality. I wonder if the entire layout can be controlled by a single tethered remote in Super TIU mode. Recently I had a WIU fail.. I chose to purchase another WIU instead of a WTIU since the compatibility with previous TIUs was not advertised.

No. This information is in the DCS companion on page 117. When you tether a remote to a TIU, that remote can only communicate with the connected TIU. The TIU is also not able to accept commands from any other remote wirelessly. While this was written before the existence of the WTIU, I highly doubt the tethered remote will issue commands to the WTIU via the WIU connected to a TIU.

I'd be amazed if that worked since it didn't work with the older TIU. The ability to use the remote on the new WTIU is very limited.
