this is exactly the sort of thing i'm looking to build in 1:8 scale. were these at all standardized? the few i've seen pictures of seem similar, but different in the details. what was their rating? i can't image they could pack enough weight into that space to give them tons of traction.
my plan is to make one battery powered (a few auto batteries should give it enough operating time & weight for traction) and operated by remote control to shift cars around the yards. if i could make it to match a prototype, it would be a lot more acceptable to the nit pickers.
