Ridge road station had a great layout in their store. So I'm always looking for more. This layout looks great!
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

That's really nice - Thanks Joe!
There's another video of this layout shot 3 years ago. It shows how they moved the layout in piece by piece.
I've always wanted an indoor layout in Large Scale. Many years ago we were in Florida and came across a huge train store in a warehouse. They had an indoor layout that was vast and poorly lit so it was difficult to see everything. The owner was the developer of Delton Trains who had retired. I was just adding trains to my hobby shop back near New Orleans and knew very little about the then current state of the hobby. Later as I became familiar with the different aspects of the hobby I came across Gargraves track in Large Scale. I was thinking how much more realistic it appeared than the typical LGB brass track and similar products from others.
Am frankly surprised that these fellas would not have used it for this indoor project in lieu of what is better suited for a narrow gauge layout with the wide spaced ties. Especially since they are operating American prototype equipment. Here is an example of the Gargraves that I happen to still have a few sections of.
Does GG still produce this product? If they used their stainless rails and chemically treated the ties it could be used outdoors I would imagine. It was not expensive either.
Which track appears more realistic and in scale with the caboose (1:29)?

Wow. Six Z-4000s? Incredible.
Sam, I didn't know you got a matching caboose for that Hudson. Very nice. I had a great chance to get either the USA Hudson or the Bigboy for a great price on their table at York. My girl was with me and we had agreed for "no more trains!".
That one still hurts.
NICE USA Hudson! :-)
That is got to be the ULTIMATE Hudson in ANY scale! :-)
Bet it's a BEAR to lift! :-(
That Hudson has to be the most gorgeous model locomotive I've seen in years. As a guy who used to live near the former Water Level Route, what a beautiful steam engine.
Art - Over 50#s!
I jokingly refer to it as my 'Pearl of a great price' as I've sold off a couple of others to cover the freight. The level of detail is amazing for such an 'old' production locomotive. This one has no electronics. I will eventually decide what to use to make it operational. Am considering a full RC battery installation rather than a PS3 setup.

GREAT even without sound or digital control. Does it have a smoke unit?
I don't think so. It was a display model from Chas Ro if I'm remembering the seller's tale...
Have you tried powering it up? If I remember right you might be able to have the sound go without the wheels turning. I assume you have the "manual".
Greg
Hi Greg. No as I was told that it has only the motor - no lights either.
Sam, I wonder if a BlueRail board would work in the 4-6-4? I put one in my Bachmann 4-6-0 Annie and it works fine, but that's a much light engine than the Hudson.
That's an impressive engine!
Sam, what a beautiful model!!!
Ron
Very nice
OK. Now the question. Are you going to run her or just stare at her?
After all, the topic was "you can run G scale inside!"
The highest current Bluerail decoder is only 3 amps continuous, I would think that might be marginal on that loco, they can draw pretty hefty amps, especially on a grade or with a number of cars.
Might be fine if just a static display.
