Folks,
I recently acquired a modern remake version of the 397 Coal Loader. It’s Lionel model #14004. Got this from a friend of a friend who was disposing of train related items. It appears to be close to brand new with little to no use and is very clean.
Here’s my issue: Applied power and the red tray vibrates as intended and moves coal as it should. However, the conveyor belt does not move at all. Tried it several times including manually moving the belt with my fingers to see if it was stuck. And I checked carefully for any stuck coal pieces that might be causing the problem. After 4-5 attempts no luck on getting the belt to move.
Before I start taking this thing apart (and I’ve read several threads about how tricky these can be) thought I’d throw it out to the crowd for suggestions/ideas. What should I be looking for?
