FOR TODAY: " You have the right to remain silent ...".  There seems to be a fella in every small town who is into all kinds of mischief.  In Patsburg that fella is Amos Smuckel.  Here Officer Dinkel is placing Amos under arrest for using Mr. Higinbottom's car for target practice.  No telling what Judge Twilla F. Fry will have to say once she see's Amos back in her courtroom again.  I think we all know how this story could turn out.

Hey Patrick/Trumptrain, this was Amos’ previous arrest for stolen bike parts. Judge Twilla F. Fry will definitely throw 68E93AA9-ABBD-4B12-BDEE-E863B9B7DB5863C9AB54-EE1D-4016-AD85-89CC75571AD797E0DD3C-F721-4685-992F-A4166E80277Bthe book at him this time. I love your commentary. You really make this website a lot of fun. Looks like Dinkel got his buddies too. Did you know people with names like these when you were a kid? I bet you were the writer for the Andy Of Mayberry Show/or Andy Griffith Show as it was originally called. Keep them coming, we all love it. Curt

Thanks Curt!   I like that you continued my story on your post. Judge Fry is definitely throwing the book at Amos ( and his buddies too )   I think Officer Dinkle is due a promotion LOL!  AND Your scene looks terrific!!

Growing up in a small town, I just knew of various characters some of who paralleled the ones on the Andy Griffith Show,  a show which I always loved!   I mean who doesn't like the Andy Griffith Show?  Our town had our own Otis, Floyd the barber, Barney Fife, Aunt Bee, and the list goes on.  We also had lots of folks with nick names which I find useful for my stories.   Being a musician I also met and still meet some very colorful characters too.

Yeah, Patrick/Trumptrain, we had the same situation back home in Michigan. Our barber, Casey, had his barber shop in the old township one room schoolhouse. I noticed your picture with your trumpet. Do you play in a band? You  and my brother would hit it off. He still plays his old antique Schilke Trumpet he had in high school. CurtF84801FB-BE20-45EB-84A1-257CA8394B24

When I cut the whole in the wall to run the trains into the walk in closet, I decided to have a tunnel thru the wall. I couldn’t make up my mind to have wood or concrete portals, so I did wood on one side and concrete on the other side. I did DD6F0465-EB7E-40DC-AC48-E97663A3D621D6A34DC2-58FF-45C6-98C0-FAC680B32CDDnot have the room to do rock face cliffs on the concrete side, so made the sides concrete all the way up to the top.

Curt - Very nice photo of your brother with his Schilke trumpet! It would be a pleasure to meet your brother!  I play a Schilke piccolo trumpet and E flat/D trumpets in addition to a many other keys and brands.   I play in and have played in a variety of ensembles of many musical genres from the 15th century to today.

FOR TODAY:  Also shown on last weekend's Switcher Saturday.

A fire broke out in the engine compartment of a Western Maryland BL2.   Two engines from the Patsburg Fire Dept. responded quickly.    Chief Bucky Jack Larson, whose great granddaddy ... Bucky Bob Larson a steam locomotive engineer,  commanded the fire scene.  IMG_6070

The fire is out and all is well.  The BL2 will have to be towed to the shop.   More than likely a steamer will do the honors of towing this diesel to repair.  Chief  Bucky Jack will want to stop at the Donut Hole to grab coffee and a box of those delicious "low calorie" donuts to take back to the fire station.  IMG_6076

WOW great photos everyone! Patrick and Curt, you 2 sure are keeping things interesting here! Between the cops and firemen, the rock climbers and farmers one can expect to find anything going on here! What great stories for the rest of us to read. Thank you all for sharing your photos!

AA97CBC5-42B9-4FC6-91FA-688D0CE1F41BWow, drama at Patsburg, an engine on Fire, we salute those First Responders, and praise the Lord for these brave souls. It’s great you had Chief Buck Jack Larson and son Bucky Bob Larson taking care of business. Excitement personified. Now, if you had just given me a call, I would have sent my 911 first responders group over to Patsburg to save the day, then we would have all gone to the Starlight Diner fir refreshments. I love your stories, keep em coming. Happy Railroading Everyone 7EC5F7AF-168E-4C4F-B9EA-6C7FEB2BFA53BAD7B135-F8FB-4665-B786-5D092F7232E9

Hey all, just got back from a Oregon trip.  I did not think there were any trams left using overhead wires. Well Portland still uses them. These are made by Skoda out of Czech Republic. Not in bad shape considering it was made in 2002. $5 for an all day pass. Could not catch an operator switching the points to change tracks. Remotely done from the cab or a central control - I'll have to look that up.
