My new to me, nearly 100 yr old Bing for Bassett-Lowke Midland Railway Compound showed up today. She tested good on air, burner was ok with a bench test with no leaks, so a quick run on the railway before I head to work for the evening. Amazing for an old model, just beautiful!
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

It really looks sharp and did great on a first run! Thank you for posting!
Thanks for sharing. Definitely an amazing engine and the shape it was in for the age, to me, that is the holy grail of the hobby. Impressed how smooth it ran.
Thanks guys, I think anything live steam, be it in O or gauge 1/large scale in general is the holy grail of model railroading. I always highly recommend others try it. The typical O gauge Bassett Lowke live steamer is cheaper than most any of the new Lionel/MTH with all the wizz bang features. Loads of youtube videos that walk you thru how to steam the engine up and run it. The older Bassett Lowke steamers have no problem with our typical Lionel curves, especially the Enterprise and Super Enterprise locos, the older Moguls are good on 042 and larger. The Corgi version needs a couple mods to handle 042 or tighter curves but it will go around them once that is done. I have seen a few of the moguls and Super Enterprise locos Americanized with excellent results.
Thank you for sharing your exquisite tinplate live steamer! BRAVO, Sir!
BTW: NICE layout as well! 😃
Here is another video short for you to enjoy. I have gotten some needed maintance done on the old girl, steam leaks on the safety valve fixed(these are super sensitive to any leak), along with fresh Bioethanol fuel. Now we have power, enough that 2 heavy LGB coaches were tacked on with a paperclip coupler to let her work a bit. Running 1/2 throttle in that video, 3/4 or more and it was back off to the races. You can also see my new repro glass canopy in the station area. I do need to get someone to turn me some alum poles to replace the wood ones. Those are not gonna last long getting wet. If I can find someone that does etched brass name plates, I will get a new station sign made as well. I am working some angles to get some proper coaches, either tinplate or newer ones from Tenmille in LMS colors.
Very nice loco!
Sounds like a good plan! 😃
She looks great.
