Browsing Ebay a couple of weeks ago, I came across some trolleys. I had been looking for another trolley for my garden railway. Since I like to perform freight operations running a streetcar or trolley makes operation simpler. I own two LGB trolleys, one a European outline, the other is the New Orleans streetcar. While the LGB Euro car runs beautifully, I wanted a more American outline model. Bachmann makes great looking models. But with the exception of the Davenport and 45 ton diesel, their engineering leaves something to be desired. Still, I wanted one.
I removed the wheel wiping brushes from the motor block and installed a G Scale Graphics Enhanced Critter Control. Some pics of the installation work, but not all the pictures. I neglected to continue documenting for some odd reason.
The first photo shows the start/stop/speed control from the underside. Second and third photos are the main board for the ECC. The fourth picture is the underside of the battery conversion module. This has a switch that is the main on/off switch for everything. Also in this photo, on the right, is the charging jack. The red thing with the hot glue surrounding it. G Scale Graphics makes a batter conversion module with a round female type charging jack but I have been using these male/female connectors since I started with battery power eight years ago and don't want to change now.
Power for the trolley is a 14.8 volt Li-On battery from All Battery dot com. It sits inside the trolley and is black so it's somewhat visible so I may install some butchered passengers to camouflage it better. The passengers may not like it but I'm the boss.....LOL
By the way, the last photo shows one of eight screws that hold the brush holders in place inside of the motor block. Who in gods name installs these all day long ? LOL
Lastly, a video I took yesterday.Bachmann Trolley
