I got a duplicate Weaver Burlington Route of one I previously posted. New & lightly weathered faded glory.
My refrigerated boxcar for this week is New Haven Dairy milk car GICX300, a model stamped with “CMP” (Crown Model Products) on the underside that I bought at least 15 years ago.
I’ve searched for years for information about this car and the New Haven Dairy but found nothing until I was contacted last week by forum member @Farmall-Joe. He sent me information to the effect that the dairy was located on Hazel Street in New Haven along the “Canal Line” of the New Haven Railroad and that the dairy received one milk car daily from Amston, Connecticut via the New Haven’s Air-Line and Canal Line.
I visited the site this week. Although the dairy has been gone for a long time, a few rails still remain there on the roadbed of the Canal Line, which originated as the 78-mile Farmington Canal in 1822 and was later filled-in to become the New Haven & Northampton Railroad before being absorbed by the New Haven Railroad in 1887.
I modeled the delivery with New Haven Railroad USRA 0-8-0 steam locomotive #3400 pulling GICX300 and New Haven caboose C-665 on my 10’-by-5’ layout. #3400 was one of thirty-five Y-3 class USRA 0-8-0 heavy switchers built by Alco for the New Haven Railroad between 1920 and 1923.

i mistakenly included this car in a beer train following the Iroquois Brewery. Today it's back in its rightful place as a boxcar. The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company was a textile manufacturer which was founded in Manchester, New Hampshire in the 1800s. At its peak it employed 17000 workers.

Marx boxcars are like a box of chocolates…You never know what you will get.
Here are 3 Marx 3/16 scale boxcars, all Pacemaker, but different. Those include color, rivet detail, doors, lower grab bars, and roof detail to match the gray color. The H&P was made for Sakai train sets.
Its fun tracking down the different cars for my collection.
Have a great day!

I also have a few B&O wagon top boxcars from Weaver and Atlas (Weaver). These are nicely built cars with descent detail.
Atlas with the "Post War 13 Great States" scheme from 1946 to 1955. Has the flat-panel door.
Weaver also with the "Post War 13 Great States", but the herald is a bit smaller than the Atlas. It is also more red. Has the lighter post-war Youngstown door.
Weaver with the "Early Kuhler" scheme from 1937 to 1940. This scheme may have been gone by my layout's late 40's era. I just list it as waiting rebuild. Has the flat-panel door.
Weaver with the "Early 13 Great States" from 1945 to 1946. Has the Youngstown door.
Atlas with the B&O solid green Express boxcar scheme used until 1947 (heralds removed starting in 1942). Camera made this lighter than it is, actual color seems the more correct Pullman green. Has the flat-panel door.
Weaver with the solid green scheme, but definitely darker than the Atlas. Has the flat-panel door.
Weaver with the B&O solid blue Express boxcar used from 1947 to 1953, when they started to get the blue with the gray window stripe. Most Express cars stayed Pullman green. Has the flat-panel door.

@Sitka- I am really interested in the car you posted and labeled "Marx". Since it has a sliding door, it would naturally be labeled a "deluxe" box car in Marx collector's nomenclature. However, there is no reference to a B&O deluxe boxcar in any Marx reference material that I have. In addition, the printing on the door would also be unique. If you don't mind, could you include a more clear picture of this car and tell me what its car number is, I can't read the printing. Thanks.
Now for my BxCarSun offering. Here is another of my Kline box cars. I admittedly got this one because i was fascinated by the livery and the design of the "lightening bolt" logo. Federal Pioneer is apparently a manufacturer of electrical components, and is still in business and advertises on the internet. This car dates from 5 / 1993, so it is some 32 years old. It is one of Kline's 9 1/2 " boxcars so it is a little out of my normal collecting venue as I usually try to concentrate on the 8" car to match my Marx cars but as I said I loved the logo. It is partially obscured but the car number is K-649107 in "Kline speak"!
Best wishes everyone, here is hoping your upcoming week goes well

@Don McErlean I was curious too, so I did a search. We can't put links to auction sites, by the Bay has one with the number 467110. Its door doesn't open and the rails are red, same color as the car. I think the car @Sitka has, the door rails were painted. If you look at Sitka's car closely, the door looks molded in.

Well @Sitaka and @CAPPilot Thanks for the discussion. That clears it up. I thought for a moment we had discovered a "new" Marx deluxe boxcar but with the non-opening door it is clearly the classic B&O medium car (but with custom pained door slides). Thanks again for your response fellows.

Happy Boxcar Sunday. I picked up another Central of Georgia Blimp or Football car depending on who you ask. 2 Weaver 40-footers and Atlas 50-foot.

The Rock Island had many waffle side box cars. They were bought by the CNW and operated for a few decades after 1980.
I had to get a pair of Premier line ROCK waffle box cars to include in freight trains.

@Dave Ripp.- Neat boxcar Dave, the Central of Georgia or what was the RR in the past, now Norfolk Southern, runs very near to our summer family compound near Savannah Georgia. Those older "football" box cars were very distinctive.
@pennsyfan - Wow Bob, those Unique Cattle cars are very RARE, super to see them together.
@GG1GUYY...YEA!! Go Eagles!! Wife and I lived for 10 years in the Philly area.
OK , so now for my post today. In sorting out some of my collection, I "found" this boxcar that had been put away years ago so I thought I would resurrect it for today. It's not really rare, an MPC car from the late seventies, 1979 , however the RF&P was sort of special to me because it used to run (and even had a yard) near where I worked in Washington D.C. The yard was withing walking distance and it had some overpass roads which made watching the action (a lunchtime activity) pretty easy.
So here is the Lionel (MPC) # 9412 Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac boxcar from 1979.
Best Wishes, Don

Thanks Dave for getting us going! I'm showing my new Tucker Motor Car boxcar. This is a Weaver product. Since I have a Tucker dealership on my layout, I had to have this boxcar. I waited a long time to find one at the right price and this car WAS the right price! This car will join my Packard boxar on automobile trains.

Patrick, I love your Tucker dealership, and the new boxcar is awesome. The artwork looks period perfect, around 1948! I like your wishful thinking that the Tucker Company made it, but unfortunately none of the 51 hand built Tuckers ever made it to a dealership. Preston Tucker made some BAD business decisions, one of them was selling Dealership Franchises for a car that had yet to be manufactured! It was the wrong way to acquire funds for a company start up. Oops, the SEC didn't like that, because its illegal, and shut down Tucker and his company! Too bad, the car was way ahead of it's time in regards to safety. The Tucker had seat belts, not even racing cars had seat belts in 1948!
It's amazing that Weaver even made a boxcar with the Tucker name, and the fact that you found one at reasonable price is fantastic! Thanks for sharing it!

@trumpettrain- Patrick I loved the Tucker boxcar and your dealership. The Tucker story is clearly a tale of "being right too soon".
@pennsyfan - I spent a career working aircraft for both the Navy and the Air Force and I am sorry to say that "nose art" is no longer permitted in either case . By regulation you might get a squadron logo but you don't even necessarily get your name under the cockpit rail anymore (aircraft change out too often and you "fly what maintenance brung!" ). Great boxcars though!
Well for my input today, I am continuing with my collection of Kline, 8" small boxcars, that more or less match the Marx "deluxe" boxcars of the 50's and 60's. These are the perfect size for my small yard and tight radii turns and they match the size and livery look of the Marx cars (although the couplers have to be modified on the Marx side- I typically use a "transition car" an old car with different couplers on either end).
Today we have the "Ford Products" boxcar. I will admit to being a "Ford man" for most of my driving career starting with a '64 1/2 Mustang when they first came out. I don't have a date of issue for this car, I could not find any such data in my Kline listings but I would imagine that its late 80's to early 90's. It was part of the Kline "Keystone" series.
Well Happy BxCrSun to you All!
