I never knew Baby Ruth was such a popular scheme for boxcars! Nice selection Dave!
My only offering this week is a modified MTH 19th Century boxcar. I added some details, repainted and decaled by me. I used Scalecoat II and a K-4 Decal set…

As soon as I saw this image I couldn’t figure out how I missed something out there that’s wood sided and has St. Louis on it. I panicked a bit. Then I read the caption. Those 19th century’s are cool little cars I have a few but they weren’t taken quite as well cared for as that one.
Decals on wood sides has been challenging at times for me. Nice job my man!
Definetly got some boxcar envy!
Christmas trees getting dropped off at the town freight station. Have a good Sunday
Picked this up last week at the Rocky Mountain Train show.
@Dave Ripp.- Hey Dave, great display of 6014 Baby Ruth cars but you left out 2 from the prewar period. The 1679's from 1933-1942:
Now, its after school and you are enjoying your Baby Ruth bar with Milk...why not see if Mom won't add a little BOSCO to your milk for chocolate flavor. All these boxcars from the 1958 time period.
Best wishes for a great week ahead everyone.

Last week I posted two Atlas O outside braced boxcars. This week it is a nicely detailed and weighted Lionel car from 2014. I always found it interesting that they named the railroad ‘Central Railroad of New Jersey’ and not ‘New Jersey Central RR’. It is a nice naming variation.

Thanks for the kind words! They are nice cars and doing some detail adjustments makes them even more appealing.
Here is one I finished later on Sunday. Another MTH 34’ car. I stripped it, painted and decaled the car, as well as adding some minor details.
The wood side just requires a little extra work with an Xacto knife. After the decals dry, they are cut along the groves and hit with Solvaset. A few applications and everything settles in pretty well…

Great ' I feel like I can walk right into this area ' photo Mark.
Here's a BEEP tripleheader making "short" work of hauling every boxcar I've got(and a PRR cabin car):
Four of these cars are by DAS BOOT: X-Files Smoking Man, MAD Alfred E. Neuman, Spy vs Spy and Don Martin tribute. The CRI&P and D&RGW BEEPS are made up from "shelter" BEEP chassis I got from ebay, brought back to life and put the shells I got from TW on. I'm pleasantly surprised how well they run together on simple conventional power.

Really neat Bill. Something different that we don't see on videos on this forum. I guess you have to use the three to pull this long consist.
( maybe someone on the forum could lend you a Challenger to haul this train . )

Bangor & Aroostook #11714. I`m really happy with this look and I`ll make a few more of these in the future. The idea for these cars came from my friend Gary Fogg, who lives in Bangor Maine.

Well Dallas, I've got the "final edition" of MTH's Big Boy, but she won't do my 048 curves. Neither will my Alaska Veranda. I think I'm gonna need a bigger layout (and room to put it in). And, actually, two BEEPs will do it, but it is more fun with three. I was warned once I got one BEEP, more would follow...
Dave - you're missing one for your K-Line girl's train - this one was for the K-Line owner's daughter.

Robert, I think there was a series of those, but I could be wrong. I have to many little collections already LOL.
I was planning on showing one car at a time, but forgot to take a photograph of the next one. Here is a photograph I took this week of all my boxcars and reefers other than the Magnificent Seven I have been sharing.
Well thanks for posting all those great pictures folks and so many of you are really skilled craftsmen making your own cars. Well today I had an interesting experience, in searching for something to post I opened a box that had been put away some time ago and out popped this guy. At first glance its just an ordinary HO scale box car but wait...the story behind this one is that it was assembled from a kit BY ME! In about 1954 when I was 10 and represents about a 3 year foray into HO. So here is a 68 year old box car made by me as a 10 year old !
Best wishes to everyone for a great week.

Dave, that's interesting and if there is a series I wouldn't be surprised. I came by that car courtesy of a drawing at one of the local TCA meets way back when. I hadn't a clue concerning Ashley but since it is the only thing I've ever won in any kind of a drawing I figured I'd just keep it.

Robert, I've seen a handful of different colors, they were all pastels. If you own a train manufacturing company, you can make whatever you want even if you have to give them away LOL. I certainly miss K-Line I really liked buying their product.

Being a Chicago area kid, I always liked "The Rock," too. Tom provides an interesting historical perspective on the CRI&P with this car.

Yes, the pastels are a breath of fresh (Spring) air. Love the '52 Caddy, too. From what I understand, The Lionel girl's train sets are quite rare and, hence, quite valuable. Is this K-Line set rare, too? I've never seen one before.

Bill,
Thanks for the interesting question. This and future cars are only insulated versions.

1954 was about the same year that DAD set up a Christmas train for us.........and you were already moving ahead with the hobby. wow.

I don't have any BEEPs but from what I can see they definitely must be addictive .
I hope you can get a bigger layout together. ............there have been posts on layouts that are expanded by sawing through walls
Just caught up from last week. Some great posts and pix folks.
@BAR GP7 #63- another great custom car build, @Dave Ripp.- K-line did make great stuff, the girls train is awesome, @Don McErlean- that is cool that you still have a car you made as a kid. Most of my HO stuff is long gone...., @Bill Swatos- see? I told you they were addicting .
I recently bought a Reading SW1 so naturally, rolling stock had to be added to the fleet. This is a Lionel car.
