I recently bought this Flyer M1005. It was not running so naturally I took it apart. Needless

to say the brush springs went flying when I removed the brush plate. Finally got the right brushes

and springs from Jeff Kane at  Train Tender today. I ordered 8 springs, good thing because two

headed into space while I was trying to put it back together. Got it running so I put the body back on. 

Put it on the track and the first curve it came to it derailed. My outside loop is 034 so most everything

runs ok. Looked at it, two  weights inside the cab were stopping the motor from turning. Took it apart again

and removed them, put it back on the track and it would not move. The bizarre AF reversing unit had moved. 

Took it apart again, wired the arm of the reversing unit in forward, put the body back on and ran it finally. 

Added a coach and observation hoping to show you a video. Wrong. The cars derailed even on the straights.

And the observation started shorting out. I cannot imagine a child receiving one of these sets in the 

30's and setting it up on the carpet under the tree. I gave up, so no video. 

Another thing  I noticed about AF streamliners, so far I have the tinplate zephyr, the aluminum zephyr, the comet,

the green diamond, the minnie haha, and this M10005. All of them have steam type motors with 

spoked wheels. This is fine for the minnehaha as it is supposed to be steam. All of the others

were distillate engines and would have had disc wheels.

I picked these up from Eliot Scher last week...

Got to clear some stuff off the layout and then preform some overdue track cleaning.

In general, I am a NYC fan, but I have a special affection for the lightning strip paint scheme.

I was extreamly fortunate to get a tour of Eliot's new Munoz Line when I picked up the cars. Since we both had places to we had to go, Eliot wasn't able to run the trains, but I look forward to visiting again to see the layout in operation - it is most impressive. Thanks Eliot!!!

Did you get the 17600 and 17611 NYC caboose from him also? I sent him 3 emails trying to buy them but he never responded.

That was the only caboose I got. Eliot did have some others in a box when I was there last Thursday.

Just realized my smart phone did not upload the photo of my new rail king lsaly Reefer Car. Hopefully it works now. It finally got here yesterday though it was left in the mail box and not brought up too the house at least it was not damaged.

has been converted to 3 rail. There was another identical one only and hour before,

But I think I nodded off during the auction. Coming from France, so it may be a few days

til I can post a vid.

I bought these two Marx 200 Pay as you enter trolleys. One last year and the other

earlier this year I think.  I thought the one had a more complete

drive train from blurry pictures. Does anyone have any info or PARTS?

Theses were offered for just the shipping cost, thank you Don.
Missing 3 couplers and should be able to get them at the next train show or so.

Anyone know how to remove the roofs?

Any suggestions on what engine should pull the yellow "TTOS" cars?

Nice haul... and I'm very happy to see that they will get some use in their new home instead of languishing in a box. And you can't beat the price!!!

I'm sure you realize that the Pennsy is a kit bash... the observation platform definitely doesn't go on the front of a combo car (except, possibly, in Mitch M's menagerie world ). I have most of that Pennsy set - my first passenger cars from '75 or so - and one still had the paper instructions in the box.

I'll try and scan them and send them along.

I got this MTH trolley for my birthday last week.  (No, this photo isn't mine -- I got it off the net).  I just now got around to putting it on the layout.

I just bought my first Lionel Lion Chief plus E33 Rectifier Locomotive (Pa. rail name) that included a remote on a super sale from Trainworld. This engine, at least to me, is a revelation. I run my layout on an old ZW transformer which precludes me from getting all the sounds out of newer engines (except for horn sounds). With the remote I get a horn sound, a bell sound, realistic engine noises and the voice of a  despatcher! I wish I had made a purchase like this a long time ago.

This MTH “Q” subway set  was recently purchased .... I love the lighting that bleeds through the little roof windows ... it looks awesome in nighttime runs ... it’s funny it didn’t initially get my attention in the catalog ... but it’s a great looking model ... I posted pictures of the real Q on display at the  MTA Transit Museum in Brooklyn 🚞

It is a great engine. It was my introduction to Lionchief as well, many fun filled hours using it.  I have several Lionchief engines, best bang for the buck.

Got to the show today and although most of what was there was older stuff and toys I found four cars for 5 dollars apiece for my Mainstreet. Then I headed to Menards to pick up my Vetter's sash building. "WOW" it is better when you see it in person. Plus I got another box of dry wall screws and lumber for a shelf. Pics ...........Paul

Yes!!!  Lionel Union Pacific Station Sounds Diner Car!!  

Just received today from Charles Ro. Post war at pretty good prices and fully reconditioned. They sent out email about this earlier this past week. Nice and clean.

Got these at Barnes & Noble. Had to buy the Gazette with my own article as I STILL don't have my author's copy.
The Brit one had some good weathering articles.

Bought these two AMT 1:43 scale snap together models off the bay at a good price, they came in the mail yesterday. Advertised the 48 Ford Coupe was partially assembled, 36 Ford Coupe unassembled. I figured if there are any parts missing on the 48, I could always use it as abandoned along the road side. The only part missing was the rear axle (that's why there's no rear wheels on) . No biggie, I'm sure I have another in my parts box. The 48 originally was black, the 36 originally gray. Painted and assembled them today. Soon to go on my layout,  MacKenzieville. 

Neat cars, I had no idea anyone made auto model kits that small.

UPDATE: Ron - you've got mail...

Ron- there should be 4 tabs disguised as windows.  You need to depress all 4 at the same time to release the roof and window assembly from the car body.  I filed 4 ice cream sticks to a chisel point and push them up under the window opening. Set the car on a hard surface and push down.

Nice cars. The original couplers for these are dummies. I am retrofitting operable couplers on mine.

I got my long sought after Amtrak SuperLiners recently.  However, since I'm in the middle of the move and have no track, they are still in the box waiting patiently for me to have a place to run them.

Years ago, I sold my Texas Special set to a fellow forum member and a super nice Model railroader, the late Jim Bengert, from Evansville, Indiana. During their liquidation sale, I made a bid on this set, and won. It’s mine one more time. After many weeks of rehabilitation, it’s back on the track. I have ridden this train in real life the 1950’s, and it’s a beautiful paint scheme, a Legacy Control and  part of my past. Enjoy.

Gunrunner:  Those are great cars.  I have the same four car set, and, used your conversion modules to change from lamps to LED's in this 10 car passenger  consist.  Haha, I may be needing a few more of them in the near future.

Leapinlarry:  Fantastic layout.  Beyond belief.  Great pics.  You are truly a master scenery designer...
