Is that the Sewickley Bridge in Pittsburgh?

It does appear to be a close replica of the cantilever in Pittsburgh.   There were numerous variations on the same principle.  Here's our infamous Quebec bridge that tragically took multiple lives on 2 occasions.  The first accident happened due to poor workmanship and materials and destroyed all of what had been erected.

The second occurred during the raising of the center span, dropping that section into the St. Lawrence.

BTW, the optical massiveness of the structure is somewhat diminished because of the more recent suspension bridge built along side.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't aware of how many bridges used that design. The one in Pgh is a road bridge, anyway... I was wondering because I passed the Sewickley bridge the other day, and it reminded me of this post.

That's cool Keith!  My all time favorite player.  I had many of his cards when I was your age, although 1959 predates my collecting--I was only 3.    But yes, I have seen that card before.

My brother has my cards now, and I have his matchbox cars.  We made a deal when I was out of high school, he may have still been in high school.  He was more interested in the cards, and I was more interested in the cars.

That would be easy to get that wording mixed up!

Keith,

I'm not clear, Did you read earlier in the topic, that the bridge John has is based on half of the P&LE bridge over the Ohio River from Beaver to Monaca?  I brought up that point, so it is a good representation.

I have a late 60's MacGregor Roberto Clemente model baseball mitt I was thinking about putting on the Bay in very similar condition to the one in the following pictures.  If you are interested we can talk.

Yep, acquiring a real cool Coaling facility created by Andre @ River Leaf Models. Riding back from a Grand Daughter's graduation in Raleigh[N.C.] this evening my wife said that she wanted to gift me Andre's Coal Bin and Weighing Office for Father's Day[whenever that is?].

I had already ordered one and my Son had shown her a photo which reminded her of a facility in her hometown pre-WWII. Now, upon her reimbursement, I will have funds to buy details and wheeled vehicles, motorized and otherwise.

I also collect (old) matchbox cars, but I really only have the realistic ones. I have a few muscle cars here and there on my layout.

He is one of my favorites, along with Maz(I have a bunch of his cards).

Actually no, I did not see that. Sorry. But yah, that's a pretty cool bridge.

Picked up this K-Line scale B&O flat car for $25 NIB. It comes with a B&O intermodal load and optional bulkheads

BO Flat Car_9454

This is one way I could have gone...

BO Flat Car_9458

But for another $10 or so I got some scale loads (plywood & something under a trarp) which I think look pretty cool with the bulkheads. I will now use the B&O Intermodal container on another freght car. Total investment < $36. Win!

Just yesterday, I received these four Lionel cars from a forum member.  They are all '80s or reissues.  Excellent shape.

I like watching the kids operate the accessories in the Pittsburgh S Scale club's American Flyer layout at the Monroeville, Pennsylvania Greenberg show.  Maybe by the time we have grandchildren I will have something fun for them to operate.  This is a good start.

Not mine but he lives here. This guys name is "Puppy" in public don't argue with him about it.

A Swiss Bandogg. Good, papered, stable parents, very goofy, social, good temperament, but doesn't realize how big he is.(30"at his shoulder)

He isn't dumb. He would listen for a bit, then he just "rejected" the name Apollo, and Glover during training. Laying down in a huff till you called him Puppy. (but at night if you call him Glover he still searches out a glove to bring you to say "pet me". [his idea])

What's new is his munching on my carefully selected scrap wood for structures.

And the one year weigh-in at 112lbs.

That Nyla-bone was about 3-4 days old there. Its gone. One every month or so.

My new MTH UP Bush 41 SD70ACe arrived Friday. Interestingly enough, I already had a hi-rail version of this locomotive which a friend was more than willing to take off my hands (the original wasn't available with scale wheels) which partially offset the price of the new one. Took it to the club Saturday for a test run and inventory photo. MTH corrected the flag on the rear.

I just bought

THE SANTA FE EL CAPITAN F3 ABA W/BAGGAGE CAR & 3 PASSENGER CARS

A "New" MTH's Premier Set 20-2153-1 w/Warbonnet Paint

The Entire Set for Only $350!!!! Original Retail was $939

I purchased this from a generous OGR member who collected it new and had not run it. The nicest thing, beyond the smokin' price, he was willing to sell it to buyers Outside the CONUS. US Postage was only about $19 more to mail it to Alaska. Of course at the price paid I was more than happy to pay extra postage so the seller did not have to drive to a Private Courier (UPS, DHL or FedEx), about a 25 round trip.

This is a PS1 train so it will not do everything that newer MTH trains can. However, with the price I paid for this fantastic set, up-grading to PS2 is easily within reach. Our club's O-Gauge setup is for MTH DCS! And yes I know this 1997 set has 2 motors in only one A locomotive. Other members of our Military Society of Model Railroad Engineers (look up MSMRRE on Facebook) club have higher powered ABA and AA sets with 4 motors, they can pull the long trains.

A Dream Come True, That Started nearly 60 years ago!

I wanted a red and silver Santa Fe train since I was about 5 years old. That was when I first saw my cousin's new Lionel Santa Fe F3 with passenger cars. Getting a second train was not in the cards back then. So I made due with my Lionel Set #1559W featuring the Milwaukee Road #2338 GP-7 diesel locomotive, in black and orange, and I enjoyed it for about 10 years before storing it for about 45 years. This past spring after I joined the MSMRRE club and I saw Eric's Trains Review of MTH 20-20046-1 with PS2 on YouTube https://youtu.be/YgUQGsSZHxE, this renewed my desire to want a Warbonnet painted F or E model. So I checked the OGR "For Sale or Trade" Forum almost each day looking.

Grandkids, Christmas and then Me...

My Lionel Set #1559W was finally back in operation the week before this last Christmas and thrilling my grandkids. All 4 grandkids are into the train show Thomas the Tank on TV and the little wooden toy train. They were more thrilled to receive a new RTR Lionel set for Christmas; Grandma and me bought one train set for each of the 2 families. It is hard to tell who had more fun, Grandpap or each of my grandkids.

This spring I bought 2 more RTR sets in preparation for Christmas 2015, each grandkid will now have a set. All 4 sets feature steam locomotives because that is their preference, for now anyway. Do be it!!! In their eyes they are more like Thomas. However, once my grandkids see my "new" red and silver Warbonnet F3s and its running stock, I bet they will be more open to diesels.

MY ADVISE, WHEN SELLING DON'T LIMIT YOUR SALES TO THE CONUS.

Also, this past month I receive RR cars from OGR member in Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes, and it cost the same between Alaska and CONUS, as it would within CONUS.

Gene,

That is certainly a good deal!  Also I'm glad you got some nice sets for your grandchildren.

I have not shipped to Alaska, but I was surprised how little it cost to ship to British Columbia and even Australia.  I sold an HO locomotive to a guy in Australia once, and it was quite reasonable.  Of course the box wasn't very big or heavy compared to the same thing in O gauge, but the  point is not to only say you will ship to the lower 48.  Thank you for pointing that out to us.

Matt,

I did pick up a couple things just lately.  Had a chance to open them up this past week. A new Legacy Northern Pacific GP9 and some Menards Military rolling stock.

PCRR/Dave

I really like the looks of the new Legacy GP9, can't wait to program and run her!

The new Menards military rolling stock IMO is very nice for the money expended, especially with the new upgraded trucks.

Matt,

As President Chief Operations Officer you have the authority!  Write the Check and Pat's Trains should deliver for free!   I really like the old Northern Pacific GP7's the original 1959-1960 Lionel in the Pittsburgh Steelers, Black, Gold/red trimmed colors is one of my very favorite Engines. I will enjoy the new Legacy GP9 version big time, the original I will use as a Dummy Double Header Engine, with the new Legacy doing the actual work.  May have to remove or disconnect the original motor in the original Lionel Conventional, to make it happen however, or I could use the original with my 2 tone Green Passenger Cars set and run the original work train, pulled by the new Legacy GP9.

Lots of options!

PCRR/Dave

Ya got to love the old Pittsburgh Steelers colors on the GP7 & GP9.

Grabbed the caboose off eBay when they were first released since MTH hadn't done one. Now I need to convert the caboose to Kades and eventually 2-rail it. I have a photo somewhere of the pair together in response to a query about how close the paint match was. As I say, it's close enough for government work. I'm working on putting together a political business train (of historical significance) to go behind the locomotive for the sole purpose of stimulating political-historical research among my uninformed relatives.

By the way, the sound on the new Proto-3 engine is fantastic. I may load it into my Proto-3 Katy heritage unit.
