That's a beauty. Enjoy. The NYC Hudson is my favorite steamer.
I traded some scrap metal gondola loads, and two 2 bay coal loads for two K Line cabooses. One is CNJ, and the other is PARR. Both have heat damage from smoke units that over-heated. I am going to attempt to repair the melted areas, which aren't too bad.
John, Congratulations on finding that superb Hudson!!!

Really nice find Dennis! Have you tried the record and does it work?

I purchased this print back in 2001 because it reminded me of a time just before Christmas, 1949, when my mother took my brother and me to Madison Hardware to buy our first Lionel train set, a 224 engine set. My brother and I were just like the two boys in the picture, totally fascinated by the trains in the window. Here is my print with custom frame and signed by Angela;

Hi Frank Razz, I can't see the photograph of your Genesis engine.

Haven't tried it just yet, I did clean it up some and set it aside so I could do some more layout cleaning.... Hoping to get down to the actual layout soon so I might be able to run some trains.....

John,
Please repost the photos so that they will all be able to be viewed in large format instead of thumbnails. Doing so will be a service to the forum viewers who would like to see detailed shots of your famous locomotive.

John, it's almost cliche to say what a beautiful engine that is, but every single time I see one, I fall in love with it all over again. You managed to get a really pretty one. I wish we lived closer so I could come visit you ... and your Hudson!!! Way to go, and I hope you're enjoying it!

I managed to score this beautiful Lionel LEGACY model of the famous Union Pacific FEF-3 Northern from another forum member, and in my personal favorite scheme she was in - as no. 8444 with the silver boiler front and trim. I knew I had to complete it with a matching set of UP passenger cars, which are by MTH, and also bought from another forum member.
It makes a truly impressive train. Gotta love the whistle steam effect. I at first thought I would prefer the original LEGACY version’s whistle, but after having it in person, the new version’s whistle has grown on me a lot.

I bought another 6-19196 online, cheap and unrun. I had an idea about swapping the rear door. I bought an Empire State Express door from NL Trainworks. Was not surprised to see that it wasn’t an exact fit. After a bit of cutting with a razor saw and sanding, I have the fit I’m looking for. I have a unique NYC Empire State Express passenger set, just by swapping the observation car. I’ll probably glue some white Mylar inside the window to keep the silhouette style window motif on the rear.

Hi, Added two reverse loops to my S Gauge (2-rail) layout at my son's request. I wanted automatic operation and John at Azatrax came to the rescue with 4 pairs of IR sensors, a momentary MRD8 detector and a latching relay. The sensors are mounted in the roadbed and the system works flawlessly. Here's the temporary panel.

JohnsGG1, Congratulations On acquiring the best of the best, Lionel Hudson, with display track. I’ve see these in person as two of my friends have them, but I’ve never seen the display track. Wow. Very nice.
CoolHand, very nice Observation cars, very nice.
Mikado 4501, Niw that’s a great looking locomotive, great fun to watch video. That’s a great sounding FEF. Very nice.
I purchased some lights, little people, a semaphore, mostly new, from a forum member, and my dealer ABC HOBBYSHOP in Evansville Indiana, just before the Coronavirus lock down. Happy Railroading, and Happy Easter Everyone.

Bought a new Weller soldering station at HD a while back. Un-boxed it today after cleaning off my work bench. Finally retired my 20W pencil that I bought at Radio Shack many years ago. I've wanted a station for a long time. Much safer than balancing the hot pencil on the edge of my workbench or layout.

not bought anything, but looking for a reasonable 226-E......
MTH Premier N&W Y3 Weathered. I actually bought it a few months ago, it has been languishing and waiting for me to get it running properly. A little TLC, a couple of components, a new speaker, and it's off to the races.

Scored 2 items this week! First is an MTH 2500HP Baldwin transfer diesel dummy. These are surprisingly hard to find and my plan is to gut another MTH engine to power it up. Just what I need, another project!
Second is the 2003 version of the NYC L2a Mohawk. This is a gorgeous engine and I got it for a song! My grandson has been running it non-stop for 2 days now.

Never saw the dummy transfer diesel, I have the powered PRR one.
It is the Pennsy dummy but what I really want is the Santa Fe. My plan is to remove the trainphone stuff and paint it in the black tiger stripe Santa Fe scheme. But who knows, with the speed of my projects I might just come by a Santa Fe powered unit and wind up with an extra Pennsy dummy.

Lionel AF GP7 Great Northern engine with Bluetooth wanted to try the new hand controller. I really am pleased with what can be done with the hand controller such as bells, horn and speed. Having the hand controller, company can also run the trains kids can also use it.
I was helping a friend with an estate and he gifted me an envelope of little metal signs. Turns out it was an almost complete set of Post (?) Cereal promotions for the late 50's. A trip to the reuse store turned up a $5 frame and the auction site provided the one missing sign. And not train related - at least until until I populate the layout - here is the display shelf I built for my loose Hot Wheels/Matchbox Porsches.

A parts order from Lionel finally arrived today for an engine I purchased a month ago. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to announce that I am the owner of the best O Scale diesel that ever came out. The Lionel GE Evolution Hybrid, I've been on the hunt for one of these for 10 years now and I finally have one to call my own. I saw this come up on eBay last month as an auction and to my surprise I won it. But it needed a bit of work, which I was 100% willing to do. Two stanchions were broken on either side (replaced with brand new ones), the grill on the rear radiator fell off (so I needed to get a whole new radiator section), and the chain on the rear truck was missing (I fixed that with a 5 dollar chain I found on eBay). Now she's in mint condition!
I am glad to finally own this model, it was well worth waiting 10 years and well worth the work to get it to mint condition! All functions work perfectly by the way.

I won these off eBay, just got them today. I have two others just like them, they're AMS On30 boxcars. The problem is, the couplers are at On3 height, way higher than On30.
Naturally, they're going to need to be stripped, repainted, then relettered. It's almost a crying shame, because they each have different serial numbers.
But there's no way Rio Grande Rolling Stock is going to stay on this layout!
I also got this in the mail yesterday, my author copy. I had submitted an article about military railroads and Narrow Gauge, specifically slanted for On30. I like how it turned out.

I got this book off Amazon, two days ago. Ever since I was over in Europe back in 1988, I’ve always had an interest in Dutch railroads. The first book on the subject I've been able to find in English.
Over 30 years later, I now doubt I’ll ever set foot on Dutch soil again, even though I’d love to go back there, especially in the summer time.
At the time, I was quite unfamiliar with the country and its culture, but in a pre-internet era where I didn’t even know which books to order to read more, I went and figured it all out. Heck, I couldn’t even find myself on a map half the time I was there but it was an amazing time.
Anyway, it’ll be neat to read about this.

Pennsylvania Coal Train Set 6-31749Diecast hoppers are heavy. The Railsounds 5.0 are fantastic. It’s the nicest diesel I own. The set was factory sealed and in MINT condition, except where the USPS dropped it on the same corner of the box where the GP30 was and damaged it. I can fix it. Just a broken wind deflector on the cab window and warped railing. I get tired of having to fix everything I buy. There’s not any real nice dealers around me anymore.
