@coach joe posted:Paul that's the east side of the Hudson, correct? It's two tracks now but wasn't 4 in the NYCs prime?
Joe;
Yes, the Water Level Route (aka the Hudson Division) ran up the east side of the Hudson. Your second question is a bit harder (and hopefully one of the NYC experts hereabouts will chime in). According to a map included in the book from the 1930’s, some stretches had 2, 3, or 4 or more tracks. And I’m sure that the number of tracks changed over time, so I think you’d need to know where and when to answer your question
Thanks to everyone who recommended this Williams 44-ton scale locomotive to me. Got it on sale from Trainworld for $149.
Less than I paid for a NIB Beep!
It just arrived. Looks so good, that I'm afraid to take it out of the box! Mannyrock

Lol...I was trying to figure out how to pile it all up in an aesthetically pleasing manner to take a picture of it yest. evening. I may have to set-up another "temporary" folding table. So, in short, I'm still working on it.

Manny- I have the PRR version. I will caution you that the hand rails are very fragile. I always handle mine from the cab. They are very nice BTW. 👍👍
Thanks for the warning RSJB.
You may remember that I'm the one who broke the tiny fence in three places while just unboxing my Atlas Oil Pump. :-)

The 44 ton is hard to beat at that price! Good deal Mannyrock!

I bought the same one from Trainworld. It is really cool. Congrats Manny.

Mannyrock,
I liked their video so much, I just ordered the Canadian National version. 👍🏻
My R1 A train set
@Brooklyn Corey posted:My R1 A train set
Love those cars, Corey. They were the subways of my long gone youth. It looks like they even included the door controllers on the ends of the car - you couldn’t be a short conductor when your legs had to span between two cars. Definitely not a fun job when it was raining or snowing!!! Some of the last ones I remember ran on the J line - I would be waiting on Broad Street for the M train to Brooklyn (it ran over the Brighton line in those days) when a J would pull in to it’s last stop before heading back to Queens. At least half the time, there was smoke coming from the train!!!
And why build a subway layout when you can run the trains under the furniture... ahh memories of Brooklyn apartment living

Thanks Corey . Good looking R1-A set. 🤓
Nice video going from opening and all the way to running .
It's been quite awhile since I've been able to open up a new aquisition. Your video brings a smile to me. 😁

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed.
Finally got it - something :
The box!
Hmmm; wonder what's in that box? I haven't ordered any buildings.
Okay, time to take the contents out:
Okay; looks like 8 boxes of rolling stock.
Hmmmm; still trying to remember what 8 pieces of rolling stock I bought as a whole.
Let's find out:
Wow! 8 boxcars! So what are they?
I remember, BNSF 25th Anniversary of their last merger.
Here are all 8:
Closer look at them all:
(not sure why they are curved - especially on the top) (need to check my camera's settings)
Now if I add these to this set:
You get this long train:
A couple movies of the train:
Please excuse the video as I recently moved and haven't got my new-to-me train room organized and permanent layout built.
Bought or delivered??
I bought 4 Atlas 40 foot reefers from @MrMuffin'sTrains last year that finally arrived. These are beautiful, as expected.
I bought the BNSF 25 year merger anniversary engine from @MrMuffin'sTrains. For some unknown reason I got one of the last versions / road numbers to be delivered. It's fine as we head into train season.
I bought the UP Our people engine #1111 MTH DCS Premier engine, also from @MrMuffin'sTrains. Gorgeous, engine.
John
Bought a couple of ERR boards for future projects from a forum member. I plan on converting a Lionel F3 and BEEP to command.
Good times! 👍😁
@paulp575 that's a sharp looking set of box cars. Enjoy!
From eBay this week. Arrived with a broken coupler which my club buddy says he can repair. Seller made a generous partial refund.

Nice Paul 🤓 Finally opened the box ,huh ? 😂😘😃😆😂
I certainly don't have your patience .............I wouldn't have had time to post a photo of the box before having wrappers and Styrofoam thrown all over. 😶
You sure had a packed box . What a great aquisition.
My prediction is that this will be a very active thread by this weekend. There just may be a few acquisitions from York.
Best to get this on here prior to York. Last 2.5 weeks have been great- biggest developments have been 1.)Getting into western railroads and 2.) I increased my min. curve size(o-72, two 0-60s, 1/2 of an o36 on both sides-it's a bit wider than o60)
Starting off from about 2+ weeks ago from....Lionel Kiddie City?!?!?!?!?!
No,just kidding! It's a bag I found in my dad's old stuff ha. Got these from Trainz. Atlas Maersk 45' container, 2 o72 FT switches(remote command only) and Some western RR rolling stock-SP tank car, D&RGW 2 bay hopper
Next, my picture includes my big get: There's that brown box...., two LH FT command switches(Grzyboski's), and a weaver Amtrak PHV 50' MHC. But in that brown box...
is....
Lionel 1933341 Santa Fe GP35 in the Kodachrome scheme! From 2019 catalog, bought preowned,LN from Henning's. Have always wanted a SF or SP Kodachrome
Next I Would love to find a Lionel SP Kodachrome. The consist above uses some artistic license from photo below(RRPHOTOGS)
I got the items below off the bay. The K-line rolling stock was in a single lot on eBay at $20/car with shipping!
All K-line were new in box, unopened! Diecast UP smoking caboose below
FEC Gunderson 40' well w/ die cast ISO containers and FEC 40' container. Atlas 45' Maersk to the left
ROW CN thrall. Plastic but has a weight in the well and fit's scale 40' containers
Last pic for this post is the crossover with the command o-72 switches. Love being able to control these from my remote with no need for extra wires!
Will post the rest later- but really enjoying the new road names and larger curves on my layout!
With larger curves come larger trains. Proud to show my first 21" scale passenger cars! Two Atlas Amtrak Horizon coaches(PH3). Anyone run GGD 21" passenger cars with Atlas Horizons?
Could finally use my scale K-line heritage baggage with appropriately scaled cars.

You mean like this? Honestly, I have not had the opportunity to run them together yet, but at my next club run day I will!

They are pretty good at low speed. Not like a typical William's. I will post a video asap.

Here you go. Not great videos but I was in a hurry before leaving for work. I'm having power issues with my upper level too.

Not bad at all for slow speed. Mine is due to arrive today

Thank you!!!! I might have to pick one up for my next purchase.
Just to add to the confusion, here is a video of my UP Williams 44 tonner at work.
Just arrived....

Well, I am not sure if it is "cool" by the most strict definition, but it represents a real find for me. On 9/17/2021 in Front End Friday, I posted pictures of my Lionel 1110, "Scout" engine, from 1948-1952. Its a fully die cast boiler engine with some real weight but it is hampered by the unreliable fully enclosed motor, although this one does still work (sometimes). However the tragedy at that posting was that I had the engine, acquired long ago, but NO TENDER! I took pictures of it coupled up to a Marx NYC 4 wheel tender that at least was of the approximate right size but come on, this was just unacceptable. So I go looking for a 1948-1952, sheet metal Lionel Scout Tender with scout trucks and couplers - talk about an unlikely search. So much to my amazement, on the E-bay we all know and either hate or love, what should appear but a Lionel Scout Tender, complete and correct and offered alone without the engine (which I didn't need) and for $10 + ship and tax. So for under $20 I can make my 1110 complete. Here are some pictures.
Here is the side view, showing the loco / tender pair
Here is a close up of the "Scout" tender, note that the key here is that it is lettered for "Lionel Scout" and not "Lionel Lines" as is the most common tender markings. It has no whistle in this match up, never did.
Just to make up for my patched together F.E.F photo, here is an improved view with the proper tender.
I hope I didn't insult anyone with my definition of "cool" but this find was cool for me and completed the pair of a neat early post war engine/loco that never was one of Lionel's top dogs but I bet it brought some youngster great joy at a Christmas long ago.
Best Wishes
Don
Congratulations on your find Don, and that is definitely very cool IMHO.
That definitely counts as cool Don. Anytime a 70-80 year old toy can be rescued is definitely cool.
Bob
Jerry / RSJB18 - thanks fellows for your comments, most appreciated.

Yes Don, I can’t say it any better than Bob!
My CN 44 Tonner arrived today. I stopped working outside to unbox it. Everything looks great. Then I went back outside. I came in from working in a hot October sun and sat down for a few minutes. Now a sleeping dog appeared on my lap, so I’ll try the engine later and report back in.
