Pennsyfan, thanks Bob, I'll take a look.

Bob back in the time of K-Line the Greenport Scoot tempted me but I resisted the Light and strayed from the path laid out by Paul.

ARNOLD, do not make the same mistake I did, follow the light, the Yankees are calling you to centerfield, buy those trains for it is good and righteous.

@Dallas Joseph- Those are beautiful Alco's, whether or not the silver is prototypical.  I have the Lionel 2023 in silver and I love it.  OK ... one question and please pardon my ignorance, what does the term "RK" mean?  Thanks.

Don

Sorry getting back to you taking too long Don.

I might be wrong using the " RK " .    I'm refering to the  '  RAILKING '    line by MTH.

@Dallas Joseph-  HEY!  Got it my friend, "RK" means Rail King by MTH.  I have never really collected MTH, not because they are not beautiful but just because I got my collecting start in the early 70's and MTH just was not around.  I will tell you however those silver ALCO's if I could find a set might just be the first ones!!

Best Wishes Dallas (You know, I don't know where you got your nickname or perhaps your first name but if it refers to Dallas, Texas I just want you to know you have a mate in Waco .... me!)

The latest acquisition, the NYC Licking River passenger car

to go along with the Rippling Stream dinning car I posted last week.

to be part of a train pulled by my NYC 785 Hudson.

I almost scored a Williams  5 piece Madison set cheap but with very little interest from others I wasn't watching as bidding ended and lost the set.  Oh well I think 7 cars would have been a bit much on a 4 x 8 anyhow.

Darn it Coach. Wish I would've known you were after those cars. Just sold a set of 3 of the same. Would've made you good deal. PXL_20221027_203807351

Not sure if this counts as "cool", but ever since seeing the videos of R.J. Corman cleaning up train wrecks I thought it would be cool to try to collect a consist of the R.J. Corman items.

Just received this the other day:

RJ Corman American Crane Car (MTH 30-79674):

MTH 30-79674

This is now added to my R.J. Corman collection of:

RJ Corman N5 Caboose (Lionel 6-85301):

6-85301

RJ Corman Flatcar w/Excavator (2022 LCCA Convention Car)  (Lionel 2201220):

2201220

Awaiting release of the R.J. Corman SD-45 Diesel Engine (MTH 30-21137-1). It's on "pre-order status):

Just got this K-Line K2630-22 B&O Plymouth switcher from forum advertiser The Western Depot. It's part of a custom run they had made. (They also sell a gray on blue reverse of this scheme.) I haven't even tested the smoke unit yet, but love it already. The paint looks sharp and the detailing is better than all but one of my other engines. It comes with Kadee-style couplers installed, which is great for something this tiny, and they include Lionel type couplers in the box. I had planned on converting a box car to Kadee on one end to use as a transition car, but was surprised to read in the K-Line instructions that these couplers can mate to Lionel. I never expected that but am happy that I don't have to put the big couplers on this or make a transition car. The engine pulls 4 cars without a problem and I probably wouldn't pull more than that anyway.

Nice John, I’ve got the set but in PRR.

Now I hope that I don't see it in PRR so that I don't "need" to buy that, too.   ;-)

Be careful John. Plymouth's are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

I saw this posted in the beer car thread and wanted one. I bid on one for really low and forgot about it, but ended up being the only bid so I won it. The ebay listing name was incorrect so I don't think it got many views.

Nice find Rick. I love a good IPA!

Added some heavy iron to the UP roster, the #80 Coal Turbine.  I had a search on eBay, and this one came up upgraded to PS/3, and I got it for $550, about what I was thinking of paying for the stock PS/1 unit.

The good is all the units appear to be in excellent cosmetic shape, and they all function independently.

The bad is the PS/3 installation was really bare bones, only headlights, sound, and of course power.  No couplers, no number boards or cab lights, and no backup light.  Obviously nothing I can't deal with, and all the hardware is already there except for the LED's and the two replacement couplers.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the purchase, this rounds out my UP turbine collection.

Nice find John, it’s highly detailed too! A lot of model for the price!! Congrats!

Well, I decided to fork out an extra $60 for a "non-Beta" Santa Fe F body diesel. Heck, it even came with a bonus A dummy! 🤣. It's my first MTH premier, and I'm pleased with the size and detail on it. First thing I did was take the white MTH battery of death out, and replaced with a bcr! Cleaned and serviced her. All ps1 functioning. Some day when I've honed my skills it may get an upgrade. Got the consist for her to haul. Very nice John - Love me some Plymouths.

These pics were taken over 15 years ago at the Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders. A four unit powered coal train, and a single unit leading a very important candy special.

Very nice Donnie.

Well I posted this before, showing my 785 trailing a pair of Lionel Madison cars and said I may add a K-Line 15" Observation to add a little variety.

IMG_2360

I thought I had one on my ebay watchlist but I did not.  Searching for a K-line 15" heavyweight observation on eBay led me to Scott over at Trainz.com.  The Seneca Valley observation was a bit more than I wanted to spend and $20 more than the Lionel Babbling Brook he had, leaving me in a quandary.  Well I needed a baggage care and the K-Line was less than $30, in the cart, so i might as well go with the Seneca Valley, in the cart, and one more car to round out a 5 car train.  What should it be, a Madison, a 15" heavyweight,  well why not just go with the  15" Wappingers Falls Pullman?  So here they are.

IMG_2382IMG_2383IMG_2384

Kudos to Scott and his staff.  I completed my order Thursday night and my package arrive around 1:30 pm today.  there were no original boxes, but each car was wrapped in about 8 ft of bubble wrap securely taped so the cars could not escape.  Top, bottom and sides also had bunch up brown paper further filling the space inside the box.

And here they are with the two Lionel Madison cars. Slightly more than six feet of train for the 785 to haul.  The size disparity is a little greater than I expected and the color difference is a little stark, but I think the combo will work, especiall with theprices I paid for the Lionel cars.

IMG_2376IMG_2377IMG_2378IMG_2379IMG_2380IMG_2381

At first my plan was to run the two Lionel between the baggage and the other K-Line cars but I remember having a derailing problem running my K-Line Denali aluminum Observation with my MTH RK streamline cars around the 42" curves so I alternated the Lionels with the K-lines because the Lionel trucks have greater swing.
