Hah - I can only attribute it to a temporary loss of judgment !
Picked up a set of 6111s at Joplin on 7/15:
No logs, but I did have some 3/8" dowels knocking about the garage, so, a little X-acto miter box work later:
Voila!

Here is a MTH Railking for comparison.
I think they look good together! @Walter Matuch did an outstanding job on these tankers!

It also came with a letter acknowledging the recipient has a ticket to tour the Weaver Models Factory. The letter is signed by George Seil - Tour Coordinator. It also shows "OGR Publishing, Inc" located in Poland, Ohio.

Oops! I did it again… (Mea Culpa for that pop reference ). Lately, one of many avenues of collecting I’ve been pursuing has been to purchase items from railroads that run in and around my neck of the woods in NE Pennsylvania. So off I went to Grzyboski’s on Saturday morning for a couple of recent Lionel Reading & Northern items:
First up a 60’ boxcar - nicely detailed with crisp, interesting paint scheme.
And a nice pair of Unibody tank cars.
Looks like I’ll have to pull out one of my Reading & Northern engines to pull these.

Nice cars Paul. I like the map on the box car.
Just what you need....another excuse to buy trains......

@Apples55 are you trying to tempt me with those R&N tank cars? I can see it now order a few harmless tank cars and all of a sudden I’m putting in an order for METCA’s R&N SD50. Then of course I’d have to have a caboose.
@leapinlarry forgive my ignorance; BTO?

Thanks, Bob. And what do you mean excuse??? That’s no excuse… it is carefully thought out reasoning

I am appalled, Bob, APPALLED I say that you would have the temerity to suggest that I, of all people, would be trying to tempt you . Now I have to check METCA’s store - have 2 R&N diesels, but could really use a caboose
P.S. BTO means Build To Order.

Sorry I didn’t mean to infer there was a Reading caboose there. I just realized I’m immune to the SD-50. It’s too young for my roundhouse.

Bah-humbug Have to start looking for a R&N caboose
Just got delivery of a 4-6-2 Reading 8004 (Lionel 6-18004). After the usual "new-to-me" maintenance it runs like new. It looks really good with my Frank's Roundhouse Reading passenger cars (if I'm honest with myself, even better than my 4-8-4 18006 T-1 looks with them).

To be specific, there ain't nothin" like a Pacific, even if it's on the east coast

Hi Mark,
Mea culpa. I don't know where my brain was. The Reading passenger cars are Williams cars, not Frank's Roundhouse. As far as I know FRH didn't produce a Reading set. I only have pictures of 3 of the 5 cars in the set that I can post tonight; I do have all 5 so if you'd like photos of the other 2 (REA and Mt. Carmel) just let me know.

Bob, no need to post the remainder. The Williams cars are a nice set. Do you have any Frank’s passenger cars? If yes, please post pictures of them. Thanks.

Hi Mark,
I do have "a few" sets of Frank’s Roundhouse passenger cars. Is there a particular road name you’re interested in?
In the redecorated 15 inch Williams cars I have:
Lehigh Valley tuscan (8 car set)
Lehigh Valley green (5 car set)
Delaware & Hudson (5 car set)
Lackawanna Phoebe Snow (5 car set)
Jersey Central (5 car set)
In the scale (18 inch) Madison cars I have:
PRR Tuscan (5 car set)
Chessie Steam Special (5 car set)
Denver & Rio Grande (5 car set)
New York Central green (5 car set)
Chicago & North Western (5 car set)
Union Pacific (5 car set)
Bob
Bob - whatever one of the “few” sets is easiest for you to take some pix of. Thanks.
I'd been looking for an unpowered Santa Fe GP30 to mate with my Lionel powered GP30 and finally found one on eBay at a reasonable price. It's an MTH Proto 1, which is incompatible with my all Lionel stuff. But it was considerably less than other offerings which ran for a pretty high asking price just for a used dummy. So, I made an offer and got this one.
I had to disconnect the motors and although it's not a perfect match to the Lionel powered unit, it's still pretty close. I keep it on a siding coupled to a string of freight cars. So when I want to make a longer train, I just back the powered unit into the siding, pick up the "short freight," then end up with a double header pulling a longer freight train.

OOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOHHHHH! Mr. Kotter! I know this one!
Well, I geve Berwyn's some of my train slush fund for a few special run items. I have a feeling these won't be the last.
A couple of MTH FM Trainmasters. I'm studying how I can fix the pilots and put Kadees on them
A pair of CNW 100-ton cylindrical hoppers.

Favorite Diesel Freight Locomotive, bar none, maybe there is a difference, can't see it in the pictures unless you are talking about the cab color of Yellow and the hand rails, That could have happened at different times the real loco's were in the paint shop

Good eye, Guttersnipe. This diesel has special meaning to me too, as explained recently in another thread. Now I can't even remember which thread. Anyway, my young son and I used to watch these come in from Oceanside when we lived in Escondido (California) and do some switching there in the 1980s.
The main differences besides the different color hand rails and stanchions, are that the large Santa Fe letters are broader on the Lionel and the multi-chime horns are on the correct right-hand side of the roof above the cab on the Lionel. On the MTH one, they're mounted in the center of the roof above the cab. MTH's Santa Fe yellow is also slightly brighter than Lionel's yellow. I did install the "Barstow" (where they were serviced, about 150 miles north of Escondido) decal on the front, as I had on the Lionel.
Again, I got as close of a match as I could with what was available on eBay, as I was just looking for an unpowered dummy. So, by disconnecting the motors and Proto 1 wiring, it does the job. I miss the real-life Santa Fe freight diesels. 😔

Lets get the name right, it was Kottah or Kottier, only the principal ever called him Kotter.
By the way Paul, I'm glad to be of service.
