Well folks- I recently won an online auction from a trusted company for a very desired (by me ) MTH Siemens- Westinghouse  schnabel car!!!! 2 days later  ( today ) I get an email stating they can't find the product so they've refunded my money - boooo hissss boooooo!!!!!  So I purchased and lost something cool

I'd expect another one to be found, and paid for by the party that "lost it", if it was readily had on the market. Price be d#$%^%$, they can bid another on another site for it if they have to; because somehow "lost" doesn't sound like it should be the buyers problem from any "trusted auction". It isn't a store with  set price tags, & stock that comes and goes, "sorry out of stock". It's a single "valuable" item you bid on fairly, and it could easily cost you double next time.

I'd settle quietly at 125% of the winning bid. I.e., the price of a "good discount" at a retail store's sale, and it is just good faith at 25% . In comparison by law here, a scanner mistake cost a store 5x the mistake if you catch it before you leave (still?). Any "noise" by you, is likely gonna cost more in the long run, so they should bite the bullet for 25%, and your not "out of hand" asking in a "professional manner". I'd add "regardless of policy" to my request, and "in my experience, and this is basically an "unacceptable outcome"".

Yep, about 25% without much fuss; that would keep me calling them a "trusted site"

Mark, make me an offer, Ive got a brand new GE Demo AC6000 thats been displayed,  make me a reasonable offer. Got a few GE Demos with flashing lights too that Id let go too

Allow me to ponder that.  I just sold 3 engines, but am waiting to complete the transactions. Though I normally don't buy contemporary engines, I have two friends who work at GE, one in Erie, and the other at Grove City, Pa, where they make the prime movers.  Therefore I do have a soft spot for the demos, Evos.

Bought 3 lots of Fastrack on ebay for just under $800 that included roughly $2500 of track so we can build out something more than an oval on a rectangular board. Had purchased mostly new track leading up to this, but stuff purchased looks great and includes 110 pieces of wider curves (had all O-36 now have O-48, O-60 and some O-72) and 14 more switches with 10 being remote control (O-60 and O-72),  100 pieces of straight track (30" and 10" - 120 feet) plus other misc pieces like short straights, blocks, terminals, bumpers, half curves. Had a 15 x 6 foot oval with side and inside passing tracks and small yard using all O-36 manual switches, independent figure 8 inside the oval and length of table bumper to bumper trolley. Now hoping to put together something more substantial around the wall in the basement over the summer. Not sure what, but we have the track! Pretty cool purchase for our family - everyone is excited to expand.

Tiffany,

That sounds like a great purchase.  I would have guessed Larry was a good guy to work with

The MTH crane set was new in the box and an small amount of dusting is all it needs !!  his price was cheaper than Ebay (true) on the crane set.  Best of all is that they are is Christians so are we, smile.

Hats off to Larry!  It is nice to know you two and Larry are Christians.  So am I.

Hi all,

I got the two Lionel tank cars shown below back in March or so via early order through Charles Ro.  I just love them. They are part of my modeling efforts of the contemporary Norfolk Southern line in Ayer, Mass.   The only drawback is that they seem to tip over a lot when going over my MTH switches.  They usually drag and spark a bit before I can stop the engine. What a mess it's made of the track and wheels.  It's a good thing I bought a Kinsmart Fire and Rescue emergency vehicle at CVS.

Friday after work I went to Mr. Ro's in person.  Sadly, I missed out on the Steel City Beer and Heinz Katsup reefers they listed for sale -- maybe one of you got lucky and are enjoying them?  My plan was to combine the two boxcars with a switcher to model my other time and place -- intermodal railroad-barge operations in the greater Pittsburgh area.  Only the 1991-2 Lionel 44-Ton Switcher was available when I called that AM.  As others have pointed out here in previous posts, the model is 'way out of proportion and more like an 80-tonner. But boy can that thing move!  It just flies around my track so fast that I don't dare move the transformer dial beyond half way for fear that it will become airborne!  So, the size is obnoxious (as is the placement of the handrails and the steps that go nowhere), but the model makes up for it in play value.  I love the simplicity of the electronics, too.

As a consolation prize for missing out on the reefers, I got a new Pan Am boxcar.  It's so new that the salesman had to search for it a bit.  A Pan Am car has been on my wish list, and it does not disappointment when hauled behind my NS SD70ACe.  I'm debating getting some graffiti decals to mimic the prototype.

And lastly, to celebrate a successful but challenging elder care effort, I found an inexpensive Bachman N scale Santa Fe set online at Wal-Mart, and decided to give it a try -- just a little something for the dining room table.  I won't be converting anytime soon, it was just for fun.  When it arrives, I'll mosey on over to the HONGZ page if I have something to share.

Happy Sunday!

As a matter of fact,  yes I did.   Happened to spot this nice 4 car set of K-Line B&O 60' cars with passengers on the Forum for sale.  We have a pair of Lionel B&O Sharks that are packed away so I elected to run an "Ohio Train" for today's open house at the club. Our Atlas GM&O's fit the bill for motive power with 'Ohio" being the common denominator!
