I managed to get a JLC Y6B today. Bought it on Ebay and the seller hand delivered it to me since we live fairly close to each other(about 25-30 minutes away). Was my first Ebay purchase, great price, and Tom is a great guy. Ironically, I had bought from him earlier at one of the Greenberg show's the PT Tender to the Century Club Empire State Express. It wasn't until we were talking(about 20 minutes) what railroads we liked and NYC came up and I commented about the PT Tender. He said, "That was you? Small world". Funny how that works.IMG_20170609_191841010[2]IMG_20170609_185936229[1]IMG_20170609_190337801[2]IMG_20170609_190215204[2]IMG_20170609_190155784[1]

Solid engine. I'm a huge N&W fan and this is one of my favorite O Scale Y6b's made.

Mister Postman, and it was a mister, dropped this at my door steep this morning just before 11:00AM.

Not exactly new to me since had purchased  a copy when first published.  But some how lost/misplaced it.  Found a "new" copy  Monday and here it is.

The significant thing about in this book is 29-pages of the " CHESSIE."  I have seen where some train writers state it never existed.  There are B&W pictures of nine of the CHESSIE passenger cars.  And pictures of the M-1 including some in color.  Also pictures of the Chessie pulled by the M1 on tour.  It just never actually ran in revenue service.

that y6 will be a long way from home on the water level route!.....HA HA HA! beautiful locomotive man enjoy it!

Two items... first, an MTH PRR J-1 to replace the Lionel model I had years ago and, in a selling fit, let go.  No dealers have these but I found a near mint one on the bay.  This one is a prolific smoker, and the sounds are great.  MTH has improved the realism of the whistle - I can't hear it loop like I can with my PS2 locos.

Also from the bay, a Lionel 13150 PWCS re-issue of the 1964 773 Hudson set.  There's an issue with the loco that I'll work through, but the rolling stock has never turned a wheel and the price was right.  With it having 3 operating cars, it was too fun to pass up.

1/43 scale, can't wait to paint these once I get putty in the seams and some filing done...

0615171807-1_resized

Got them from England and they weren't cheap.

Lee,

Those look great!  I hope you'll share the painted results with us.  You mentioned putty for filling in seams. Can you say a bit more about what type?  Does it harden?  Would it work on plastic?

I ask because I bought some unpainted plastic scale animals.  (And, I have my eye on some 1/43 English metal figures, too.)  Several of the plastic animals have gaps at the seams that are so wide they make it look like the models may be constructed from hollow pieces formed together.  I've painted one sheep so far, and I think those spots are noticeable. Can't imagine how bad a cow or horse will look.

Thanks in advance,

Tomlinson Run Railroad

I've developed an interest in the beautiful NP passenger trains running through the northwest  recently. Have acquired the K-Line F3 ABA and some Weaver and MTH 20"/18" cars for them this last year.  Just this week I stumbled upon this handsome (if fanciful*) rendition of a PA in the pretty two-toned green scheme with 5 cars from early Williams production. Probably around 1995 or so if I remember correctly.

*As a boy, I lusted for the American Flyer set like this that Williams probably used as an inspiration. The NP never had any PA's and the F units and cars had black trucks. Awfully pretty however!

Perhaps in the future I may do some 3Rail scale work on these with Kadees and some added detail to dress them up a bit

Sam,

Fanciful or not, it looks great!  You certainly come up with some handsome passenger trains!!

I unboxed these MTH Premier B&O F7's Wednesday night, they were perfect right out of the box, great details, lots of grab irons, nice paint job, LED headlight, markers, and numbers boards, Proto 3, passenger station sounds, both the A units are powered. MTH even included shorter couplers so you could make the units couple closer if you wanted. Very nice, very happy.

I did not preorder them from the 2016 vol 1 catalog because I hate the tethers. Someone told me at York in April that the tethers are gone now, you just run them as a DCS lash up instead, like Lionel. They were correct, no tethers.

So, last weekend I found the A units at Nicholas Smith with a nice discount, the B at Trainworld and ordered them to pull my passenger rig, as well as freight. Excellent speedy service from both stores, well packed, and great communications.

Glad I saw the "Mike Wolf in China" video, got my MTH juices flowing, and I am sure contributed to this purchase. Good job Ken at Trainworld for coming up with the China video idea.

Recent purchases ... what oh what is going on at the Tomlinson Run Railroad?  Wait until July 4th to see!

UPS truck, miscellaneous accessories, and some 3-D printed items. The truck is plastic and doesn't have an opening rear door, which explains its low price.  But it'll do:

And here goes the neighborhood! Literally.

I just got a P2 Boxcab off E-Bay in Penn Central Livery, I've already got one in NYC Livery. I pick it up on Monday, because of my work hours I can't pick it up any earlier. I know I know, "This Thread is worthless without pics" LOL. I'll post pics on Monday. I never thought MTH made one of those in PC livery and when I saw it I just had to have it.
