I'm guessing that the new package would all fit in the tender.  Take a look at this thread, ERR Cruise Commander Lite, A First Look

That will give you an idea of the size of the new Cruise Commander Lite.  Also, the new RailSounds Commander is a single board that's much more compact than the older two-board set.

Here's where I installed it and the RS Commander in a RMT BEEP, it gives you an idea of the space necessary: Cruise Commander Lite Beta Test, Part Deux

ERR is smaller than some of the older options we had.  This is an Ed Bender, Digital Dynamics, Drive and Sound system in a Weaver A5, 0-4-0.  I had to modify the tender to get enough room.  Lower right front of the tender is the drive mother board and R2LC component on it's side.  Top left side of the tender is the Sound mother board, sound power board and sound board.   Tight fit.  Good quality flat speaker, and electro-couplers, front and back, completes the assembly.

Note that the lower coal door has been moved forward and a curved sheet of brass added to allow for the electronics.  A5 tender to the right.  G5 tender to the left.

Two smallest units/locomotives I was able to upgrade to TMCC, Weaver A5 and the Rich Yoder GE 44 tonner.  The GE 44 tonner has an ERR drive and sound system, that is no longer available.   Ed Bender's offerings are also gone.

From the ERR website.  Click on the underlined phrase to access.

Cruise Commander drive system.  2.75" L  x  1.25" W  x  1.2" H  This drive system has the U-shaped heat sink similar to the Digital Dynamics drive pictured above.  Picture on the website shows the board without the R2LC board.  Hopefully with the R2LC board the footprint doesn't get any bigger.

Railsound Commander additional part added.  1.75" L  x  1.25" W  x  0.50" H

Compatable speaker. ????
Flat speaker.

These components may have to be installed on their side similar to the install pictured above.  The sound system is quite a bit smaller.

Other than the information John posted, I don't see anything on the ERR website about the Cruise Commander Lite.

I did note the heat sinks on the board picture that John posted.

The small drive board in the GE 44 tonner (An ERR product) had no heat sinks and was even smaller but it failed under heavy use.

If the engine is a remake of the Post War 1615 then there is no room in the engine for any electronics. I was able to fit an older version of Cruise lite along with a small Sound Commander and speaker in this tender. The new boards are even more compact so you should be able to get everything in there. You will probably have to use a small speaker though. Neither of the the fatboys will fit. You can see a pic in this thread.

Patience grasshopper.

The Cruise Commander Lite will be available soon, probably a couple of months.  Last time I talked to Ken at ERR, he said it was in the production cycle at the overseas plant, and it'll be listed when it's in stock.  It'll make many of these projects a piece of cake!  Added to the fact that the new RailSounds commander is much slimmer than the old package, it should be an easy upgrade for that sloped tender.
