The victim is an early TMCC PRR E6 Atlantic.  Its boards resemble those in the installation manual for the K-Line Allegheny.  The CC board installation is straight forward.  It's the connection of the wire(s) from pins 1 & 2 on J4.  At present, the engine goes through all the moves and has idle sounds, but it doesn't chuff, blow the whistle or ring the bell.  I believe I have the pin 1 wire "C" connected correctly...between "A" and "B" on the 4 pin tether connector, which is the wire furthest outboard.  While the illustration shows that tether connector as having all black wires, mine has a red wire at the outboard position.

Also, the instructions clearly lists J4 pin 2 as serial data out to sound system, yet doesn't show if or where it is connected.   Please help me sleep better with all the noises tonight.

Thanks Nick,

If you were like me, you tried saving the brand new R4LC in the Cruise Commander M kit by reusing the original R2LC.    My morning cup of coffee kicked my brain in gear as I recalled someone here having issues that were solved by installing the COMPLETE kit.  I just got back from swapping out the R2LC/R4LC components and everything is better than new.  My little Atlantic now has all the bells and whistles plus.  I'm astounded at how effortlessly it handles grades as compared to the wheel slipping it did without cruise.

The Cruise Commander M is a modular board for existing TMCC installations, it doesn't include the R4LC.

As others have said, I just wire Pin 1 of J4 to pin 24 of the R2LC socket, job done.  I've never used pin 2 of J4 on the CC-M board.

Note that there are some earlier CC-M boards that won't drive the wireless tether properly when installed, you need to either use the transistor booster circuit or replace it with a current board from ERR.  Specifically, you want the Cruise Commander M Kit - Steamer kit (all versions).

Right you are about the R4LC....it came with the regular CC 4.1 kit ordered at the same time.  It was actually saved from a previous upgrade.

The CCM upgrade in question didn't involve a wireless tether.  Whether it was a programming mix up on my part or differences in the R2LC / R4LC, who knows?  Currently it's buttoned up and working fine.
