For some reason, I haven't been able to get Firefox to play embedded Youtube videos here, specifically ones that I post.  This has been going on for months.  Since I can click on the "play in Youtube" and play them, I haven't spend much time on it until now.  Today I went through a litany of "solutions" present on the web, and no joy.

Here's a typical video: https://ogrforum.com/...7#175990811270632367

Here's what I get when I try to play, it hands with the constantly rotation circle.

I've done all the usual things, cleared cookies, started in debug mode, etc.  Nothing seems to cure this.

Not something most folks want the hear... but, I recently did a complete low level format of my machine drives and reinstalled all software.  It had been almost three years and if you are a very active user as in installing and uninstalling a lot of different software... there is a huge build-up of crap that only a complete wipe completely takes care of.

I have used Firefox for years since it's (sort of) the same on the Linux, MacOS, and Win platforms I used to use, sometimes simultaneously.  Now I'm just on Windows so I'm not attached to it as I once was.  I've never had the problem you experienced @gunrunnerjohn, but lately Firefox has been crapping out on other sites.  I have MS Edge on my taskbar, and if Firefox falls over I fire Edge up, run the page, and it always works fine on MS.  The settings I use are pretty standard, nothing stands out as being a solution.

It seems to me that Mozilla may have lost a step or two.

In an interesting twist, it appears to work in a private window, I never thought to try that!  It's not a solution, but it's a clue anyway.

OK then click on the shield to the left of the padlock in a normal window for the site you are having the problem with and turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection.  It will only be turned off for that site not the rest.

See if it works now.

You win the gold star!

I sure wouldn't have ever found that one!

Thanks, problem solved!
