Make it a great weekend all.
@Dallas Joseph posted:Great looking model Mark . Have you ever considered an upgrade ps2/3 ?
Dallas - thank you, and, in answer to your question, no. Want to keep this guy as produced. I also had a pristine Tuscan 5 stripe from same era, and have seller’s regret after letting it go.

Funny how that works.🤔 I've seen other posts that had the same sentiment. I may not have enough trains to have wanted to sell off anything yet.
@coach joe- Yes, It's a Lionel PW 218 dummy. One of the first sets I bought when I relaunched my train insanity......The front skirt is broken under the coupler but the set was in good shape overall for its age. I've replaced the motor in the powered unit since. Funny how my carpet central was bigger than my current layout. I never should have left the floor!
@leapinlarry- Thanks. There's a lot of love-hate directed at the Menards F unit. I'm happy with mine and I'll buy more when and if they start full production.

" I never should have left the floor "........and didn't have to test out your joints crawling around checking wiring !

The P-1a electric motors operated under catenary at Cleveland Union Terminal beginning in 1929. Electric operation was eliminated by dieselization of CUT during the 1950s. Twenty P-1a motors were converted to 660-volt DC third-rail power and designated P-2b for operation between Grand Central Terminal and Croton-Harmon in 1955.

That's what I thought but forgot about the designation change from P-1 to P-2
Time for a Fourth of July front end Friday. Here is an R-62 sporting a beautiful American flag coming into City Hall station - -

Well hello F.E.F. fans, here is my input this week.
First this is a U.K. Mettoy "Britannia" clockwork locomotive and tender, from the early 50's.
At the other end of the time spectrum, here is an American Flyer (Chicago Flyer) veteran from the 1920's. She clearly shows her wear and tear but she still works fine, although I limit her running so as not to risk parts I can no longer replace.
Finally in the "anything goes" class, here is the front end of the Disney World , "Adventure Land" Jungle Express from just a few years ago.
Best Wishes everyone!

Here's a front view of my model of New Haven Railroad Alco RS-3 diesel locomotive #531 by Atlas O Trainman (20033012, MSRP $399.95, TMCC, 2012) on the O-36 inner loop of my 12'-by-8' layout.

Happy FEF!
Finally got a chance to surf the forum today. Been one of those Friday's at work......
DC Metro pulling into the station. Having grown up riding the NYC Subways, the open look of the Metro stations always impressed me. These trains run on hard composite wheels too, they are very quiet.

Front End Friday Santa Fe style. Lionel F3 Red Warbonnet from 2005 and F7 Yellow Warbonnet from 2022. Some maintenance action going on in the foreground just for fun.

Patrick, great scene at track level with the diesel straight ahead...also, some friendly activity in the truck distribution yard? Nice to have such flashy neighbors on site gracing the "green" house...
I got this 1999 MTH reproduction of the PW Lionel NJC FM Trainmaster for ~$210 delivered from Trainz last week:
She's got a neat mars light feature:
She's a pretty faithful reproduction, right down to the end screws (no shell cracks) and not-so-prototypical chromed railings. Her PS1 OS is a little quirky, but she runs well. Although Trainz indicated she had been fitted with a BCR, I "popped the hood" anyway and found a few small splatters from the original battery to clean up. The 24 yo traction tires also had to be replaced which was a pain because the trucks need to be "dropped" to remove the side frame screws. How the downward facing side frame screws used on newer locos weren't used from the beginning on traction tire diesels is beyond me

Thanks so much Paul! Yes, it's always good to have friendly neighbors

“Cool” looking scenes and nice detail Patrick.

@trumpettrain, Patrick, thank you so much for showing those amazingly beautiful winter scenes, it helps us stay cool here in Tennessee with temperatures in the lower to upper 90’s. @Bill Swatos, that’s a gorgeous FM, one of my favorite color schemes, Wow. @Trainmaster 04, Wow, beautiful night scenes as work must go on, 24 hours a day, nice work. @Genemed , that’s a beautiful steamer, is it the newer Lionel legecy consolidation? I have the B&O version…. Happy Railroading Everyone

Yes it is Larry. I got it from Pat’s trains after seeing yours. I prefer diesel over steam, but this one caught my attention and bought it with no hesitation.

@Trainmaster04- Really liked your "night" scenes, the lighting effect was great. Especially on the locomotive in picture #3 from the top. Super job! @Bill Swatos- neat new Trainmaster, she really looks good! @Strap Hanger - Like the subway photos, I wonder who got picked to put the graffiti on that platform lower wall, talk about brave! (or stupid). @leapinlarry - super photos of your layout.
Here is a F.E.F. contrast in both time and size. The American Flyer (Chicago Flyer) wide gauge 4644 locomotive from the 1930's and the #1211 O gauge locomotive from the 1920's. One designed to resemble the NH box cab electric on the NY-New Haven run and the other to resemble the NYC "S" class locomotive for use in and around Grand Central station in NY.
Well I am headed back to Texas tomorrow at the end of my vacation trip with the grandson. So I will be absent from the forum for a few days. Hope to see everyone early next week.
Best Wishes
