Hey All,
Need help wiring this reverse unit for a pacific. It's color coded wire. Green, white and black. I'm confused what goes where and have looked every where. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Saw that earlier. Dang thing doesn't have the pins as you can see in the picture. Might just open it up and rewire the whole thing with colored wire. Thank you though.
American Flyer 4-6-2 I believe it's a 57 run
Assuming you have a 313 or similar based on that information:
If not, provide the cab number...
Thank you for this thread!
It's a 283 can't seem to find anything on it?
Thanks! A wire hunting I shall go an updated color coded one I'll load. Lol
Per traindr.com, "the C&NW number 283 is among the most popular 1950's S-Gauge locomotives in the Gilbert American Flyer product line. It is well-proportioned in appearance and operates reliably. In 1954, it came with two cataloged sets: one passenger and one freight. ... Actual locomotives also show up with 21084 and 21085 numbering."

Thanks! I'll upload some updated real life pictures for anyone else along with a wire color coded diagram to make things easier. It's just snipped at the contact for the tender.
OK!, rewired it, now reverse unit is stuck in neutral. Any way to just bypass the reverse unit and allow my locomotive to permanently go forward? really don't care about going in reverse.
I am not really an AF guy, but AC or DC they all have series wound motors. That means power will go through one brush out the other brush to the field coil through the field to the opposite power connection. You can just reverse the brush to field connections to make it go in the opposite direction. That's essentially what the reverse unit does.
Hope this helps.
Ok, here is the next dilemma, got the E unit wired up, its turning over as I change direction. Now no power to the motor? I did briefly see smoke lol But no turning otherwise. It's a clean motor so that rules that out.
