I am using SC-2's to control my switches. When I came upstairs to run trains today one SC-2 doesn't work. The red light on the SC-2 blinks randomly without me doing anything but not when I use the cab-2. I have tried unplugging it and also reprogramming it. Most all switch motors are wired for non-derailing and they are getting power and working. just not from the Cab-2. The other SC-2's are working fine. It's # 7-12.any ideas?

Try swapping it with another one and reprogramming the two for their new positions. The SC-2 may have simply crapped out.

Thanks John. I was thinking it might come to that. I was hoping it might be something didderent.
Might as well eliminate the SC-2 as the issue before spending more time looking for other causes.

John, I changed the SC-2 and all is fine now. I guess that was it. Is the old one worth repairing?
Hard to say, they go for around $70-80 when I see them, occasionally cheaper. It really depends on what's wrong with it, hard to tell without working on it.
Doug, I had a couple of SC-2s that were not working, I contacted a person that might repair these and while I waited for a reply from him, I tried reprogramming them several times. I first tried to reprogram them for all switches, then for all accessories ,then to four switches and two accessories. I ran through this process several times and I do not know why or how but they came back and have been fine since. Might be worth a try.

Thanks Ray, I’ll try that
