"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

About a year ago I was browsing a LHS and saw these two very used and broken G scale coaches.  We used to run G around the Christmas tree but switched over to the O gauge Polar Express when it came out years ago when the kids were little.

I walked by these passenger cars twice thinking it was a shame how bad off they were.  They had stickers on them that said $25.  I offered $25 for both and they accepted.  After I purchased them, they fella said if we didn't sell these by Christmas, they were going in the trash.  Then I felt like I over paid.

I thought it would be a nice winter project to rebuild and custom paint.  I got the one done in fast order but lingered on the 2nd.  I literally just finished it today, Christmas Eve.

So the Polar Express takes a break this year and the G Scale North Star Express returns.  I picked what I thought were Christmas colors and lettered the cars North Star Express to match the Steam Engine.  Each car is named after my children and the car numbers were easy.  24 and 25 for obvious reasons.

Paint is Tru Color and the letters were Woodland Scenics dry transfer.  These unique cars will be our new / old family treasures.

Merry Christmas.

Ron

Another Dead Rail success??  Cars and loco?

You're one heck of an 'elf', Ron!

Merry Christmas!

The passenger cars are configured to run lights off a 9v battery.  I did completely rewire and run new LED lights.

The engine still remains track power from the day we purchased it 28 years ago.  Maybe if Santa brings me a new Blunami, I'll recycle one of the old BlueRail boards and go battery.

Quick story.  I never had trains around the Christmas tree growing up.  As my wife and I approached our first Christmas she said, "We need to go to the hobby shop and buy a train".  "For what", I said.  She replied, "For the Christmas tree".

The rest is history.

Excellent work on the two cars.  They will be enjoyed for years.

This is even better.

My wife never had trains around the Christmas tree growing up either.  She thought I was nuts when I told her about putting them there.  Now she wouldn’t have it any other way.
