"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

You have two options.  1. Remove the Atlas trucks (with their couplers) and add trucks with knuckle couplers, or 2. Remove the Atlas trucks, cut the coupler off of the truck, prepare the Atlas' car under-frame, and then add a car-mounted coupler (and coupler box) and reattach the Atlas trucks.

In almost all gauges, you have to check any equipment to be purchased to make sure the couplers are compatible.

I do not recommend replacing your Atlas couplers with the Kato couplers. I have LOTS of N scale. I only keep the Kato couplers on my passenger diesels and passenger cars that came equipped with them. ALL other locomotives and freight cars get MicroTrains trucks or couplers. I replace all freight car trucks with MT trucks that have the couplers built in. It is a little expensive but is a big time saver and worth not having the headache of doing coupler conversions. There are a few locos and freight cars that are difficult to convert, but MT does have kits to convert everything on the market. If you are going to run passenger locos in multiple, I recommend using dummy couplers between units. This keeps them from unwanted uncoupling. My recommendations are from about 30 years in N scale and after many years of converting, this is what has given me the best results.
