Greetings -
I am a NEW user of JMRI software.  I learned about this software a couple of days ago and am very much interested is using it to program my engine decoders.  I just finished installing it and attempted to use the Decoder Pro.  I got the following error message:

“Wrong revision of Command Station EPRON selected in preferences - Change the Command Station EPRON selection to “2004 or earlier”

Spent about 45 minutes searching for a way to do this and have come up empty.

Background info:  NCE Control System.  Windows 10 OS, Latest version of JAVA and Latest version of JMRI.  BOTH installed yesterday.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Jim

Yeah, seems about 2005 or so? that NCE put out an upgraded EPRON chip for their system.  Or maybe even a few years later with yet another upgrade.  It was an actual chip where you unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one.  Surprisingly, NCE included new chips for about a year if you purchased extra engineer throttles.  I upgraded my home system and the club's system with the new chip.  Embarrassingly, I can't remember where it went - probably had to open up the command station to do the swap.  It was really easy.

I have only seen JRMI in operation a very few times, with another member's computer.  While it seemed like the greatest thing since sliced bread, I elected not to do it.  Being that most of the club members were fairly new to DCC (myself included) at that time, I decided that I may be better off learning how to use the ProCab to program with, since that was all we were going to have when setting up and running the layout in public.

Perhaps your command station was never upgraded, and the JRMI software is recognizing that.  I am guessing you might have to go into the JRMI preference settings (if it has something like that) and and change it to the 2004 & earlier EPRON selection.  Joining the JMRI users group as Bob B. suggested would be a good idea no matter what.  They should be able to offer all kinds of help if you ever need it.

I assume  you went under edit and the Conguration settings.   I tried that on mine and it only showed one option for NCE.

I also assume your NCE system has a computer interface built-in.   If not  you may have to get one.   I use a SPROG.

Actually there is a drop-down menu that offers “2004 or earlier” as an option.  That resolved my problem.

Consider joining the JMRI users group.  They provide quick and correct answers to all matters relating to JMRI.
