FWIW: I received my info pack yesterday. LCCA members, what does this merger mean to me? I am not down playing the merger but here are a couple of things that I won't be doing. I won't be going to any of their conventions or any other trips, get-togethers etc. I wouldn't purchase any O27 size club cars or special cars. What are some things that LCCA offers that I might enjoy? I appreciate your feedback.

I was thinking the same things as you are, got my info the other day also. They do promote the hobby. I'm not aware of the LCCA being at any train shows near me. The shows here are all probably 90% HO & N and the other 10% is split between everything else, so I rarely go to those.
I have been a member of the LCCA for more years than I can remember. Their publication "The Lion Roars" in my opinion is one of the best and most informative mags out there. Members are automatically shipped every new Lionel catalogue that is published. LCCA also has an awesome website. They seem to have a wonderful working relationship with the Lionel and I think that is important. I was also a member of the LRRC, but if I had to pick one or the other, it would be the LCCA.
I just joined. Waiting for the mail.
For those of you not familiar with the LCCA, we are a not-for-profit, volunteer organization with thousands of men, women and children sharing an interest in Lionel trains. Founded in 1970 by Jim Gates of Perry IA, LCCA members live all around the world, but predominantly in the United States. The purpose of the club is to promote and foster an interest in Lionel trains specifically and toy trains in general and have fun while doing it.

Please LCCA...finish the LRRC 50th Ann. Program. It just needs a loco by this point and a caboose. Hopefully a cool loco...PW tooling of course. Perhaps an NW2 or 0-4-0 switcher.

Al, do you have any more info about future LRRC product offerings?
Any general info would be appreciated, but I'm particularly interested in the annual Christmas car.
It's about the time of year when in past years the annual Christmas boxcar was posted for sale on the LRRC page on the Lionel site. Looking at my records, I ordered the 2012 car on 9/18 and the 2013 car on 8/31.
If there is going to be a 2014 car that arrives before Christmas, it probably needs to be put up for sale fairly soon.
Thank you.

Yes, the LCCA is planning a 2014 Christmas car. We are discussing with Lionel right now. Additional information will follow as soon as we have details worked out.

Good news for all members, especially those who traditionally ordered the annual LRRC Christmas Car! This car has been produced and will be offered to ALL LCCA members in the October issue of 'The Lion Roars'. This car celebrates not only the yearend holidays, but commemorates the LRRC joining with the LCCA! Delivery has been committed by Lionel before Christmas. But be advised, ONLY 500 Cars have been ordered and are expected to sell out quickly. Order forms will be included in the October issue and at the web store. ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER DISTIBUTION OF OCTOBER 'THE LION ROARS'. See this issue for more details.

Al K., thanks for keeping us informed.
It is a nice looking car. I like the silver and gold snowflakes.
I ordered it in the store.
