Legacy Base on two layouts?

I don't know for sure but suspect all you have to do is run a wire from the U connection on the base to an outside rail   on the layout below. Will the cab-1 talk to the base above? try it.

The wifi unit will for sure

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've tried the Cab1 from other parts of the house but not through the masonry wall of the basement.  

The wifi is a good idea.  I don't know anything about it but will look into it.  I have an iPad.

if it is the new Cab-1L remote, then yes, it should send the signal through the floor. If it is the original Cab1, then no, it will not communicate with the Legacy base.

Legacy and Cab-1L are on a different frequency than the TMCC Trainmaster base and Cab1.

I've used the old CAB1 about 80 feet from the base, including a change of levels and a number of walls.

If you're above the basement, how is it the signal is going through a masonry wall?

The layout with the base is first floor.  New layout will be in the basement.  Actually the signal would go through a sheet rock wall, then the floor (wood) to the basement.  About 20-30 feet from the new layout.  

I have run the current layout from 40 feet and two walls without issue.  Looks like a winner.
