So here's another chance to show what you have or like. I really prefer modern diesels but I like the steam too. I bought a MTH triplex just for kicks. I had zero interest in it when I saw it advertised. I prefered my MTH Challengers anytime.
Once I modified a few items on this triplex (&installed KD couplers), it has become my favorite steam to run. I think it will pull a tree stump if I tried. It has pulled every car I could get on the rails to stay coupled.

I put a loop of track around the basement walls under my O scale layout. It allows me to keep running in bad weather!
I run my LGB indoors year round since I do not have a garden layout.
I run outdoors year round but have to ease up a little in the summer when the sun tries to kill us when it hits 115 in Vegas.

LGB 2085D 0-6-6-0 German mallet and PIKO BR 24 German 2-6-0. The mallet is 1:22.5 scale while the BR 24 is 1:26 scale. The mallet prototype is a meter gauge loco, while the German BR 24 has a standard gauge prototype.
PIKO issued the BR 24 model as an analog engine with switchable lights and smoke only. The tender has provision for both a "drop-in" decoder and sound module and there is a mount for the speaker. The conversion components are readily available and the sounds are of an actual BR 24. I only operate in the analog mode, so I have not converted mine.

This is a custom built Accucraft K28, about 40% scratch built using erection drawings and about 80 photos of the actual engine . I had to rebuild the frame to scale and add loads of detail not on the stock model including new tender frame and trucks. It is electric RC battery powered with sound. It runs very smoothly, but has sat on this shelf for 10 years now. I painted the engineer as well. I admire it every day in my train room.
A nice model of the C16 loco of the Denver & Rio Grande, a brass model made by Sunset. It was very dusty and dirty when i bought it and has never been run, now all is cleaned and waiting for some cars..

Sam, I was at a train show and there were a couple of USA prestige models on blow out on the factory tables. The big boy and the Hudson. I could have stole them the were so cheap. My girl was with me and pulled me away. We agreed "no more trains". I can't tell you how much it still hurts! Happened over and over. Same thing with a Accucraft PRR on a table of Nicholas Smith later on. I stopped going to shows to save myself the grief.

C.SAM: Only close rival to your USA Hudson would be the LGB/Aster Hudson.
How about live steam? Pearse 0-4-0 gas fired live steamer that belongs to my wife, roughly to LGB scale. And my Aster Pannier tank(gauge one) on my outdoor railway.

Had to buy this LGB Mikado. About 35" long. It was originally a Union Pacific. I reallocated as Atlantic Coast Line. It is battery powered and LocoLinc controlled.
TERRY: I once owned the LGB Mikado in SR Crescent livery for awhile. Ran Aristocraft Southern Railway aluminum coaches behind it, and pretended it was an excursion train.
