Wouldn't that be cool.  Strasburg engines and passenger cars.  Don't forget the passenger cars.  The engine is useless without them IMO.

I agree Marty. Ryan has been going on about #90 for a good number of years and we know it is something that is dear to his heart. If the engine comes out with no cars, the catalog better indicate they will be coming in the next one, or he better say so Friday morning during the review of the catalog, as he would usually state so.

Let's hope somebody continues to make the MTH 64' Woodesided passenger cars in Strasburg paint - regardless of whether this is one of the molds MTH chose to keep or if it has been obtained by someone else.

As an aside - I wish they would sell the combine as a stand-alone car rather than in the 3-car set which includes a baggage car... I don't want a baggage car for my Strasburg consist. It would be a good Nicholas Smith Exclusive item

Personally, I'm indifferent as to if Lionel makes Strasburg cars since I have the MTH ones. I would have to make sure they matched the paint of the MTH ones before committing to purchase. I will probably pre-order SRC 90 if it's in there and see what it looks like when it comes in - repaint/resell if necessary.

Well, as soon as it is live, buzz Nicholas Smith up with your idea and see what they think. One way to get something started. I did that with Steve at Mr. Muffins but he was already reading my mind.

i'm surprised there hasn't been a leak of the cover either Terrance LIONEL must have found out what was going on with the previous catalogs leaking and put a stop to it OR july 16th was perhaps speaking too soon and there was a hiccup in printing

i got thinking what if lionel made a WWE train set and seperate sale boxcars for all the wrestlers ? i would buy that set for sure as well as a Paige boxcar

i mean they could do everybody. make one huge WWE train

There are always leaks, you just have to know where to look.

This particular rumor isn't about traditional sized rolling stock, sorry.  When the catalog appears, it will be abundantly clear what the rumor was about if it is true .  Just creating some additional anticipation, based upon a tantalizing rumor.  Less than three days to go. I will say the rumor shouldn't upset anyone I'd think.

Well it was a wild guess on my part, extrapolating from the steady reduction in traditional rolling stock from Lionel. But I am glad that is not the case. I am looking forward to learning if this rumor is true.

Guess - That whoever owns DCS now and Lionel have decided to allow DCS and Legacy to control the other system without limitations, only thing needed is a special adapter coming soon for both systems. With MTH not being a competitor so to speak both teams came to terms.

That would be a great outcome, but this rumor is not,  strictly speaking,  related to DCS and Legacy.  But here's hoping anyway.

I've heard this will be an expensive catalog for me...but I knew that anyways hahaha.

I am going to guess Lionel bought MTH Tooling.

Evidence:

M.T.H. 2021 Transition Plans Revealed | May 18, 2021

"The as-of-now unnamed buyers of the other O Gauge tooling will be revealed later this Summer."

^^^"this rumor is not,  strictly speaking,  related to DCS" - @landsteiner

liberally speaking, DCS is MTH and therefore OP is implying Lionel will announce MTH product.

AND

If you look at the squares in the background of Lionel's instagram announcement, you can make out the letters "M" "T" and "H"

Well I do remember that many MTH fans were ecstatic that Atlas would produce product with MTH tooling, I’m sure they will be happy to know that other MTH tooling will have a second life in the orange and blue. 😉

"If you look at the squares in the background of Lionel's instagram announcement, you can make out the letters "M" "T" and "H'".

And if you turn a printed copy upside down and spin it, you will hear very clearly the distinct letters "M", "T", "H" being spoken. Try it.  You'll like it.

Oh.  BTW, the Walrus is Paul.

I don't have an Instagram, can anyone verify?

Also, for Lionel to buy the tooling and then turn around and sell it with Legacy in less than a year, seems like a very fast process. Would it not take more time to design and prototype? I assume we won't see any offerings with whistle steam if @Landsteiner's rumor refers to Lionel posting MTH offerings.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the joke. I don't really think it says that. Screen Shot 2021-07-13 at 6.02.00 PM

In the past, catalog covers were at least leaked by now with only two days to go! Lionel seems to be doing a really good job keeping it secret until the release day this time. Still hoping for some leaks though! 😂

Lionel probably realized that they couldn't ship out the catalogs to the dealers until after they release the information themselves online.  Sort of like when you share a secret, it's not a secret anymore.  Or, in Ben Franklin's immortal words, "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
