I hear rumors that, if true, will represent an interesting turning point in the industry.  Won't do the "my dealer told me" thing just in case it's wrong .  But it will be worth giving the a catalog a particularly detailed look to see what's going on, or not.

I think folks will find 7/15 (tomorrow) to be an interesting day in this hobby. Stay tuned!

Genesis tooling is great, but Landsteiner called it a turning point in the hobby, and Alan here is telling us tomorrow will be an interesting day for the hobby. Would new tooling for one loco really qualify as a turning point in the hobby?

idk maybe this turning point has to do with the release of  the menards locomotive. lionel might see it as a opertunity for something

This is the SIXTH page of comments with only two pictures posted (The Atlas catalog, and a Lionel spoof cover).

That is a lot of conversation with no leaked pictures.

Wow that is odd.

Makes you wonder if this is all a dream.

i have a hunch it can mean either of two things

1 the catalog got delayed til after friday OR 2 lionel caught on to the leaks and put a stop to it

Spoke with the owner of my LHS today, Lionel had a few revisions to make before releasing the hard copies. The next 36 hours should be fun; my radar will be working full time, enjoy.

hmmm i wonder what those revisions are ?

i called my hobby shop yesterday to see if i could get a hard copy delivered by friday and he didn't have any copy for me yet so i'll call friday so i can get it by wednesday hopefully

i hope its over 100 pages like 2010 volume 2 or 2019 vol 2

You do not want to miss this!  While we can’t be together again this year, we can still enjoy one of the wonderful benefits of being a member of “The Best Toy Train Club on the Planet!”

Below is the link to access the Summit.  Be sure to tune-in Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 3PM EDT.  You are encouraged to logon this site 5 minutes prior to its start.

So is it true (like I heard at the hobby shop) that Lionel is dumping Legacy and all the LionChief flavors and putting DCS into all of its engines from now on?

Lionel didn't purchase any of the DCS electronics at all, at least as far as we know. Plus, given that lionel still produces TMCC engines (LC+ 2.0), I doubt that they'd just dump a system that is newer, and considered by most people to be superior to TMCC.

From my understanding you have to be a LCCA member to view that, I am speaking for the time that the PDF (or interactive version) of the catalog will be available online.

The link posted on the LCCA web page is lionel’s official YouTube open to anyone. I don’t see how it could be locked to LCCA Members only.

tomorrow at 3pm eastern, you should be able to find the stream here:

Yep!

Ah, I knew it. Allan has come out of retirement from the wrestling ring to take on all comers with has patented throttle thumb to the eye. Allan wins the major titles once again to be CHAMPION OF THE WORLD(cue echo effect).

Dang Allan, what bad timing, lol. 5PM is way to early for me, I get off at work at 5. Well, unless you count the last two days. Tonight I clocked out at 6:31. Had much work to do, and you know, get new money for new trains as old money is hidden under some rocks somewhere(don't bring a shovel).

This entire topic has actually been a great one as there has been no warnings from the moderators about naysayers, bad behavior or anything crazy like that, which is a welcome change.

Yep!

No offense but rather than some obscure and veiled comment in a thread with 6 pages of replies in a Lionel catalog thread, wouldn't it be better served for OGR to make a featured post to tune in on 7/15/2021 for some exciting news?

While I got your attention there was also a comment on a York thread about wearing OGR gear and getting a surprise from OGR if you see us wearing gear but yet no link to the OGR store was provided.  Yes I know it's at the top of the page but it doesn't hurt to put the link in where you are asking us to "wear the gear"!

Just some thoughts as I see OGR could really self promote themselves within their own forum.

That being said Allan I will be "tuning in".  Thanks for the heads up.  I hope its as groundbreaking for the hobby as it is being promoted as.  We could use some good news.

Truth be told, Dave, I have absolutely nothing to do with the timing. Just letting folks know that they might want to be around the forum at 5 pm this evening for an announcement of interest.

No worries Allan. I know you're not a clock maker. Now what interests me is you made no remark about wrestling, lol. My late coworker Gary used to joke about wrestling all the time. Miss him as he would be ready to step into the ring. I guess I'll have to catch the highlight reel if there is one. Thanks Allan.

That would be terrible!  DCS is a finicky pain in the butt compared to Legacy.  I want nothing to do with it!

I'm in the wrong business.  Let me figure this out.  Lionel is taking a system that works, has been upgraded board wise and also having the luxury of a hand held remote.

Now they weill run a system with sounds that are not as good, older boards and the special feature of no  remote or remote support.  Where do I sign?

Unfortunately, there may be truth here.  The moderators have not shut down the conversation.  Maybe they know something.  We'll find out later today.

I really don’t think Lionel will be junking their whole Legacy System. If I remember correctly, Atlas purchased all the rights to MTH’s DCS and ProtoSound systems, right? Perhaps Lionel will be working with Atlas to make it compatible with Legacy so it can run on their Lionel’s system too? We’ll find out... 🤷‍♂️

Liobel, could technically license DCS, but that would not be with atlas. Perhaps Lionel will be working with Atlas to make it compatible with Legacy so it can run on their Lionel’s system too? My guess is Lionel had no interest in anything having to do with DCS. The systems work completely differently and Lionel probably believes TMCC/Legacy is superior.

Lionel has been investing heavily in their app/bluetooth. They would likely go down that road before DCS.

What would be cool would be if the Cab - 2 remote could be used to control Lionchief  as some tinkerers have demonstrated on this forum. Having several remotes is a pain.

Finally, the big – game changing announcement – could be that Lionel figured out how to enhance the end-user experience by having pieces not fall off the model when you open the box for the first time.
