Doing a repair on this loco; the ATSF #3751 from 2004; replaced the defective cherry switch; did a reset and tested; does 2 chuffs per revolution as it should in reverse; going forward get only a single chuff per revolution; have adjusted the cherry switch lever more downward toward the axle cam twice; will take any ideas. Really baffled as to why the normal 2 chuffs in reverse and only 1 chuff forward. GRJ's CG has been offered but client says no; getting the chuff switch out is a real PITA. Thanks for any input; Falcon70

Sometimes I find I have to bend the lever and then adjust to get the correct operation. Of course, most of that is in my rear view mirror as I prefer not having to take the whole locomotive apart to tinker with the switch, that's why I created the Chuff-Generator.
Thanks John; have to find the sweet spot; suggested the CG but not my call; much easier than removing the MB and to get to the chuff switch! Have slept on it and will give it another go; the difference in chuffs in revers and forward baffle me; I must be close; thanks; Falcon70
Not that surprising, I have a Vision Line CC2S that has the exact same issue. I'm tempted to put the Chuff-Generator into it as it's chuff switch is REALLY buried, you have to take almost all the boards out. In addition, there's lots of extra wiring and the like to support the three smoke units and swinging bell. I think Lionel set the CC2S chuff switch on the bench, and then assembled the entire locomotive around it. Looks like it's the first thing to go in and the last to come out.
