LIONEL 6-28287 KCS SD70 Loco

I have a Lionel 6-28287 KCS SD70 Loco that has smoke unit trouble and I need the AC REG which is unavailable from Lionel. 691 ACRG103 is the part number. I have found a 691ACRGES2 for sale online. The original is ES2 code. The one I found online is S03 code. Will this work? I suspect no but I figue I'll ask any way. The loco is my favorite of the few I own and I want the smoke to operate as It's one of my favorite features. Thanks to all.
