Lionel Fastrack wiring

Red to hot (center rail) and black to common (outside rails).  Aren't the wires already connected to the track section?

If the spade connectors have been removed from a factory power wire, you will find that one of the wires is smooth on the outside and one has ridges to help identify them. 

 

Here is a ready-to-run set video. At 1:43, the terminal track and transformer connection is discussed.

 

Also, almost all FasTrack has terminals for power and common connections, although there is no slot for the wire to exit the roadbed.

A small round file fixes that in a jiffy.

Drill a 1/4 hole under the track & feed your wire down.  That way no exposed wires.

Thx Moonman.  Is there any way to get power off the track rather than the accessory terminals on the transformer?

The are connectors in most pieces of FasTrack. What do you want to power? 

Looking to power the gateman off the track but every video I can find always shows using direct connect to transformer. Can gateman be powered via connectors under the fast track track and if so, can it be the isolated track or does it need to be a regular piece of track and does it matter which set of power clips (power track has 2 sets) it is hooked to?
