There's a switch for RS/SS, the SS is signal sounds, just horn and bell. The RS is RailSounds, the full sound set. Make sure the switch is in the correct position, open will give you full RailSounds, closed gives you just horn and bell.
Probably on the bottom, look under the trucks, they're frequently there.
would this be another time when the 6- number would come in handy?
That's different, the switches are under one of the engine hatches, the rear panel lifts off.
I had a similar issue yesterday and Marty suggested this: reset the Auxilary volume control? Tap Aux1 then raise the volume. Page 15 of the manual.
Worked for me. Good Luck!
Good point, that's another place that might be an issue.
I don't see the RS/SS on the panel, so it may be the volume control you mention.

I still live in the old TMCC-RS4 land where the switch was the major factor.

Rudy, For education purpose what has changed between RS5.0 and RS 5.5, is it primarily Legacy R4LC use on the early Legacy? G
There were some changes in how dialog worked, and I'm sure many little details that escape me right now. Sorry, that's a pretty open-ended question and more than I can answer off the top of my head. Merry Christmas!
Understood, but since you guys have not run the tech course in several years, we use your post to self train Merry Christmas too your too. G

There are two volume levels, the legacy manual is not very clear on this.
Vol^,VOL^,VOL^,VOL^..........to raise main volume.
AUX1-VOL^, AUX1-VOL^,AUX1-VOL^....... for background sounds.
You must press AUX1 each time before VOL^ in order to raise the background sounds.
