lionel ser 2

i have a legacy 990 base hook up to tiu for wifi.i was told i need a lionel 6-81326 ser2 to get all the fuction from my tmcc engine through the wifi over my phone.so they said if i get a lionel ser 2 i can get all that.my question is do i need a db9 cable with the power supply to ? hope i'm in the right place.

Yes. The power supply with the DB9 is required. That is how the ser2 is powered via the PDI cable.
