Hello everyone trainfam here,

Well to all who collect tinplate, this post should certainly be of interest to you. In 1910 Lionel began production on an iconic piece, the 100 trolley. The 100 trolleys produced from 1910 to 1911 featured offset windows, five embossed windows, short crinkle hook couplers, tread steps, 4 doors with a door knobs, partially closed clerestory, type 1 headlight, and primed in yellow primer. This offset 100 has a type 2a motor with 20 motor laminations and no reverse. Two of the wheels are constructed of cast iron and and the other two are made of stamped steel wheels. The sides are stamped “100 Electric Rapid Transit 100” and ends are stamped “100”.  These 100 offsets trolleys had cellophane windows, though most cases the cellophane was lost or damaged. Production ended on 100 trolleys In 1913 with minor and large changes being made along the way. These trolleys could be originally bought for the price of $3.50. 100’s are certainly not that cheap anymore. Here’s a video of one running. The motor had to be rebuilt by Joe Mania, and now it’s running like it just left the factory:

Thanks for the reply Carey. Yes it is great to see one of these trolleys in action. I had Joe Mania fix the motor so I could operate this trolley. Someone had taken out the spacers from the motor, so they needed replacement, and the commutator had some issues. But now it runs like new.
