"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I have a small amount purchased in the 80's before I switched to Lionel and O.  Marklin is a masterpiece.  First I am surprised they went bankrupt.  Do people not appreciate these magnificent works of model art anymore?  Video games and big box store toys are in the trash after 5 years.

I assume Marklin is still A/C 3 rail?   Does Marklin still make the tinplate US style rolling stock?

Marklin still does, occasionally, make the tinplate  US style rolling stock.  When they make it, I buy it.  Their plastic freight cars, though nice are pricey.  I have a few of the plastic US freight car sets, the first ones manufactured but haven't bought any since.  And for you Great Northern fans, they are doing a set of F7 AA units this year, orange and green paint scheme.   Their "command control" system works well, but they seem to keep changing it.  However previously issued items continue to work with the new stuff.

Finally, I have no vested interest in Marklin.  They make a good product which is why I buy their stuff.

I just stumbled across this thread and thought I'd chime in. I grew up on both Lionel O and Marklin HO. My dad was a chemical engineer and made many trips to Germany and Switzerland in the 50's and 60's. He would always bring home a extra suitcase full of goodies. We always set up the Marklin at Christmastime at one end of our living room. He's now retired and several years ago he decided to start collecting and building a layout in Marklin Z so he turned over all the HO to me. I've added to the Marklin roster over the years on my trips to Europe and plan on building a European themed layout at the opposite end of my train room. The trains still look and run like new,I have some of the newer digital locomotives with sound and they're very nice. I also have a few modern Era 1 gauge pieces. Great stuff!
