MTH one gauge dash 8

If you buy them brand new, they come with extra fixed pilots. That limits the curves they can handle so the engines come with the floating pilots installed. Somehow, the sellers usually seem to loose the extras when they're resold.

The lead unit below is a recent PS3 version that may match what you asked for.

The trucks and the gears in these will outlast any other diesel available that's out there. They come with sound, smoke, DCC, and DCS built in. Best value there is and has been in G scale period. What do I know? I only have around a dozen or more of the Dash 8s with some well over ten years old and still going strong.

( maybe 15 years now?) I work them well.

I didn't have to add command, lights, and smoke,

& I never had to change the gears!

The way you laid that out makes complete sense regarding value as I didn't consider all of those factors.
