Quaker Steak & Lube Up and "Doing Fine"

I'm glad you checked this out, Jim. After seeing what happened to the Scranton Qs&L, I was a little worried. I just hope I can make it Thursday, but that is because of my wife's  work schedule as she is my driver, because my doctors  still won't let me drive.

So, I guess the QS&L in Dickson closed?  That's too bad.  My wife and I always enjoyed going there when visiting Scranton.  Thankfully, the one here in Houston seems to be doing well.

Geez. I haven't been there for a while.  What happened to Thursdays at Tuesdays that used to be Thursdays at Fridays?

Ruby Tuesday's was fine initially, but they just couldn't handle the load when 180+ of us descended on them at once.  Waits got horribly long and quality of food took a step backward.  Quaker Steak and Lube bought the old TGI Friday's building and thoroughly renovated it into a great place to eat and talk.  We in fact meet in roughly the same geography where we were when it was TGI Friday's.  With the remodel, you can hardly tell it though.  The food is good and the service is fast as well.  Look forward to seeing you again Dennis!

A quick Google search shows the chain entered an agreement of sale in November 2015 with Travel Centers of America, who plans to expand the QS&L brand nationwide.

Several QS&L store closed in the last year or so -- some still closing as reported in an article posted yesterday.  All the articles had a similar theme -- namely, store closings on very short notice, with poor communication of the why's and wherefore's to store employees.  Here one day... Gone the next.

Lucky that the York location seems unaffected.

I will be there with my girlfriend, Wendy (her first York Meet...actually first train meet of any type). We hope to see many of you there, both at the fairgrounds and at QS&L.

   Some day when I am able to slow down my Fly Fishing/Gun Dog business, I will be able to attend and meet all you fantastic people in person, until then I will keep participating not the OGR forum.  Have fun at York everybody!

as some before me have said.....QS & L did a great job last York, which means I'll be present with the usual (some unusual) suspects at this April York.  I may get around and "gladhand" a bit again!   If you wonder if you might attend...change the might into MUST ATTEND!  If you want, I'll beer you one!

I remember many year ago of eating in the original Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon, Pa. It was in an old original Quaker State gas station with a car up on a real lift.  Are wings still there specialty ??
